My horror moment last night. I saw this in the middle of the night
I think I had too much water to drink last night before going to bed, I usually don't get up to go to the washroom but I sleep easily and for long hours and the washroom is the first thing when I wake up. But last night was different, I woke up around 3.
I cropped the images I'm about to show you so you see exactly what I saw.
When I finished using the washroom and walked back into my bedroom, right before I jumped back on the bed to sleep I felt a tingling on my leg. At first I thought it was my pajamas losing a string so I tried to pull the string and shake it but then there was a little scratch, it almost felt like a sting but not too painful.
I immediately knew this was not my pajamas doing that. I like to sleep with the lights off so I had to turn the light on to see what it was. I didn't see anything and started turning and looking around. Then right from behind the door I saw this centipede with many legs.
This is the first time in two years I've seen an insect other than a mosquito enter my room because I always keep the room clean. I was so afraid because I thought I was bitten. I barely see these types of insects so I assumed it was poisonous.
I started panicking and I took a flat shoe to hit it because I was so scared. To all those that love insects I apologize for this but I was so afraid I didn't know what else to do and didn't know whether it was a threat or not.
Right after, I felt a heaviness in my chest and an itch on my skin. I thought something was happening to me. What would a Gen z like myself do in this situation. Straight to Google Gemini. I took a shot of this animal to identify and ask whether I was ok. Thankfully it was not poisonous and I learned about exactly what it was.
Also apparently, the itch on my body was my own nervous system's response to the thing that had happened, in a way to put the body on high alert because there was a possible threat.
I felt better but I lost about 40 minutes of sleep because of anxiety. I learned from this that when a person fears something and is ignorant of what it is, the best thing to do to conquer the fear is to learn as much about it as they can. Knowing more about it reduces the fear.
