The way to prevent these Bacteria Wilt Disease from affecting your crop.

Bacterial wilt is one of the major problems faced by the people farming garden eggs in Ghana. The very nature of the disease makes it difficult to control since it is rooted in the soil.

The disease attacks the plant through its root system causing it to block the flow of water from the roots to the stem and leaves of the egg plant, and so making the plant dry up despite the fact that the soil is still moist.

What makes it worse is that you cannot just use any chemical available in the market to spray the plants and heal them. Once it infects the crops, the most effective treatment is allowing the land to lie fallow.

The farm is smaller than an acre, but the bacterial wilt disease is taking its toll in the farm.

The good part is that, the soil seems to be strong and resilient and at least some harvest was made, some of the crops were saved from the disease.

The main causative agent of bacterial wilt is called Ralstonia solanacearum and it comes naturally in the soil but it can also be carried through water.

Your best move is to do whatever you need to do to prevent it from happening in the first place because curing is out of the question. Use healthy seeds from trusted sources only. You'll never know when one seed is already infected and it destroys all your crops.

You should always be checking the plants regularly because of you can spot it fast enough, then you can take it out and stop it from spreading. You should definitely consider crop rotation always. Never plant the same crop in the same soil again and again, you're only increasing your chances of the bacteria infecting it by doing so.

We have a saying "Prevention is Better than Cure". In this situation, prevention is the only option because there's no cure.
