Where did these Snails come from?
It's been raining at least 3 times a week for about a month now. It's clear and obvious we are in the rainy or wet season. A lot of different interesting things happen during this time.
One that I've noticed as very remarkable as how snails I didn't see on the land just start appearing. This morning I did a research on where they came from because they can't just magically appear right?
After the research, it turns out I was right, they didn't come because it started raining, they grew because it started raining. So where were they the entire time before rain? Already on the land.
The snails live underground or buried beneath leaves for months before emerging. But at that time, they are neither dead nor dormant in any way, rather the metabolic rate of snails lowers, and their hearts barely beat. Snails create a seal using their dried up mucus. This seal locks moisture in but protects them from the outer world at the same time.
Snails can be in this weird alive not alive state for years and there hasn't been a year without rain, at least not in my time being alive.
What the Rain does is it dissolves the seal created by the snails and that's what makes them emerge. What a perfect timing. The moisture the need to survive is what starts the process in the first place.

Since the earth becomes moist, the process stimulates snails to come outside and move and feed, but if you've noticed this before, that period lasts only until the area around the snails gets dry, which means that the snails will once again become inactive and go back underground.
So the rain didn't make the snails it just stimulated them to start living a different life temporarily.
Which is why we see the Snails only when it starts raining regularly. But it doesn't mean their population is gone after the rain, they are still active under the surface long before people see them.
Also know that some snails can spread parasites like rat lungworms which is not a good thing if it gets to you, the parasites can cause neurological problems. The snails don't even have to look sick, only the slime is needed for a disease to be transmitted. So guys be careful around them.
