Our University of Burdwan is situated on a sprawling campus spanning approximately 316 to 400 acres. It is home to a countless variety of trees—both familiar and unknown—which serve as a sanctuary for a diverse array of birds (both common and rare), monkeys, and langurs, as well as numerous insects and venomous snakes.

The other day, I shared with you an incident where the Hanuman monkeys blocked our path. Their antics and mischief are frequently witnessed right here within our university campus. For instance, if someone walks by holding a packet of food, they might snatch it right out of their hands and flee. They might also bare their teeth in a menacing grimace, or tear the flowers off the plants. At times, their activities even include peeking through the windows of the hostel—and so on.

The day before yesterday, looking out through the window of our hostel, I saw several Hanuman langurs sitting on the roof of Pritilata Hostel, which is situated directly across from ours. Although Pritilata Hostel has recently been renovated and repainted—and even fitted with a roof canopy—the langurs were sitting right there. I watched their antics from the window, finding it thoroughly delightful. Three of the langurs were cradling their offspring, while a fourth sat alone. Every now and then, their loud screeching and frenetic running leave the nearby trees in a sorry state. At times they engage in playful games, while at other times, they get into squabbles just like humans do.

At one point, the Hanuman langurs were scampering about with their young ones. Then, one of the babies climbed up the window grille and peeked inside. They were calling out to one another and whispering into each other's ears—communicating in their own language. Among them was a tiny infant, born just a few days earlier. Afterward, they moved from one rooftop to another, and then climbed from one tree to the next before making their way off. I thoroughly enjoyed watching these playful antics of the Hanuman langurs.

I hope you will like my post very much. I will be back again with a new post later. Until then, everyone stay well. May God keep everyone healthy.
