The Diary game. Better life with steem. A Day of Work, Family, Faith, and the Orchard. 17 august 2026
I woke up early in the morning, as I usually do, and started my day with prayer. Before offering Namaz, I performed Wudu with cold water. Apart from being a part of the ritual, using cold water also helps me shake off the sleep and feel fresh and energetic. After finishing my prayer, I made my duas and then went out for a walk. I returned fairly quickly and did some exercise in the backyard and on the lawn. After exercising for a while, I started sweating and burned a few calories. Once I felt that I had done a sufficient amount of exercise, it was time for breakfast. After breakfast, I quickly got ready for the office.
These days, a major part of my work is related to bill processing. Funds have been released against various developmental works, and now those payments have to be credited to the contractors who completed those works. There are quite a few formalities involved in the process, and the files have to be completed properly before the payments can be processed. Naturally, all of this takes time. As soon as I reached the office, I started working. At the same time, there were people who had come to meet me, so I also had to listen to their concerns and look into their issues.
I spent most of the day processing bills, and I sent several bills to the Treasury so that the payments against them could eventually be credited to the contractors’ accounts. At different points, I also took help from my colleagues. Some of my colleagues sit in the same room where I work, and since we share the same space, we often discuss things together. Whenever any doubt or confusion comes up, we try to sort it out by discussing it with each other. I also remained in contact with the Treasury throughout the day because I had sent some bills there, and whenever there was any issue or clarification required in connection with them, I dealt with it over the phone.
Around lunchtime, I had my meal and also shared it with my friends. I usually carry some extra food with me so that I can offer it to my colleagues as well. They are not just my colleagues but also my friends, and sharing a meal together is one of those simple things that brings people closer. It gives us an opportunity to sit together, enjoy each other’s company, and strengthen our bond.
Today, I had parked my car just outside the office, in an area that is actually an extension of our office premises rather than a proper parking lot. The good thing was that I had managed to park the car completely in the shade. When I got inside, the atmosphere inside the car was pleasantly cool. It felt really nice, especially compared with those days when I used to park the car out in the open under direct sunlight and would return to find it extremely hot inside. Somehow, even such a small thing gave me a different level of satisfaction today.
Around four in the afternoon, it was time to leave the office. I had to go to a nearby town where we usually go for tea, but today I also had another task to complete. My brother, who is involved in the pesticide business, had asked me to collect some stock and bring it back. So I took one of my colleagues along and first went directly to the dealer to collect what my brother needed. After finishing that work, we stopped for tea before heading back.
My friend and I also stopped by a nearby clothing store for a while, where we usually buy our clothes and where we also have a good friendship with the shopkeeper. We spent some time there, exchanged a few clothes, and picked up a few new ones as well. After that, we left the shop and continued with our evening.
On my way back, I called my cousin, who spends most of his day studying at the library in that same town. Since it was around the time when he usually heads home, I picked him up and brought him back with me. Once I reached home, I freshened up, had some tea, and rested for a little while.
After that, it was time for another important part of my daily routine these days—visiting the orchard. We have a nearby apple orchard, and I needed to go there and inspect the trees. At this stage of the season, it is extremely important to keep an eye on the apples and make sure everything is going well. I checked whether the apples were healthy, whether there were any signs of disease, whether any spraying was required, and whether there was anything else that needed attention. This has almost become a daily responsibility for us. Going to the orchard and keeping a close watch on the crop is necessary because the apples will be ready for harvesting within about a month. At this crucial stage, we simply cannot afford to let any damage occur, so regular inspection and proper care are essential.
After spending some time in the orchard, it was time for Maghrib prayer. I offered the prayer at the Jama Masjid, which is located in the centre of our village. After that, I finally got some time to meet my friends. I took one of my friends along with me, and we went to another village to have some barbecue. We spent the evening there and returned home quite late.
Once we came back, I went straight home, had dinner, and finally ended the day. It had been another busy day—starting with prayer and exercise, followed by a full day of office work, time with colleagues and friends, a visit to the orchard, and finally an evening spent with friends. By the time dinner was over, I was ready to call it a day and go to sleep.
