Yousmarg:Meadows of Jesus. The earliest known tourist destinations of valley Kashmir.

Yousmarg is one of the most famous yet less crowded tourist destinations of our valley. Located at a distance of about 40 to 45 km from Srinagar city and almost the same distance from Sheikh-ul-Alam International Airport, Yousmarg is a surreal place nestled within dense forest cover. It is about 1.5 to 2 hours from Srinagar via the Charar-e-Sharief Road, where the famous shrine of Sheikh-ul-Alam Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani is located. People prefer this route, even though there are alternate routes as well, because they get to pay their respects at this sacred place while on the way to Yousmarg.

It is a beautiful getaway from Srinagar city, and people can easily return the same day. It is located at a height of about 2,500 m above sea level, which makes it even more special because of its beautiful views and fresh mountain air. It offers beautiful meadows for nature lovers to enjoy solitude. It is one of the most beautiful and early-known tourist destinations of our valley. The presence of meadows with lush green grass that appear like a soft carpet, along with very few people around, makes it even more beautiful and serene. Not only do these meadows present natural beauty, but a river called Doodh Ganga flows along one side of this place, which adds to its charm. Whoever visits Yousmarg also visits Doodh Ganga, because no one wants to miss the beauty of this river.

This place offers beautiful camping sites, pony facilities, trekking areas, and much more. The presence of a huge dam at the far end of this place further adds to its beauty, and some people can be seen fishing on the banks of this dam with patience, reflecting the serenity of the surroundings. Nilnag Lake, located about 5 km from here, offers another beautiful trekking destination. On the southwest side of the place, there lie some beautiful meadows that are even higher than Yousmarg itself, and these meadows again offer wonderful trekking routes that attract a large number of people throughout the year. A few famous places among them are Draktolan and Bargah.

One more unique feature of this place is that it has almost no mobile network, which makes it even more special for people who prefer to stay in a place without disturbance. They prefer to visit Yousmarg because it offers them a space where no outer distractions disturb them. While being here, one almost forgets about the rest of the world because they hardly come to know what is happening outside.

In winter, the place turns into a snow wonderland, and for the past few years skiing and other snow sports have been started here. This has become another reason for tourists to visit this place during the winter season as well. There are good accommodation facilities available too, with both government and private options, so people can easily stay overnight.
