The Diary Game: 3rd June, 2026. A Very Long Day Surfing The Highway.

I was on the road throughout today. Surfing between Abuja and Kogi State. Yeahhhh! My name is John. If you're new here, I write about my day everyday.

When we were growing up we were told that Abuja to Lokoja is just 2 hours. But as I grew up I knew it wasn't so. Abuja to Lokoja is almost 4 hours. The road too is very bad. The most dangerous traffic jams in Nigeria happen on this highway.

In the early hours of this morning, I was at my boss's house. And before noon I was already at my house getting my bag ready to travel. So I got my bag ready and everything and left the house before 12PM. And I waited for more passengers to board the car so we could move.

We left Abuja around a few minutes past 12PM. The driver was fast though. He knows the way well, so he navigates past the potholes well. If you're familiar with this route you will know what I'm talking about. This road needs the best attention it can get. Because this road is the connector of states. I sat at the front throughout the journey and it was fun too. The driver indulged me.

Okkk! I didn't tell you why I'm traveling right? Yeahhhh! I'm going for a conference in Okpo Kogi State. The distance from Lokoja to Okpo is about 3 hours. Kogi is not so big. It is just that the roads are very bad.
Very very bad.

So we arrived in Lokoja a few minutes before 4PM. And I was supposed to continue my journey. But I was joined to the family of an evangelist going to same location as me. So I joined them where they said they were. So she left me with her children so she can bring her things from the house and also call the driver.
But guess who was still waiting by 7pm waiting for a driver?

Yessssss! We waited. We waited. Driver didn't call us. And they brought a lot of load out. It was not a good one though. So all our waiting was in vain. We had to find alternatives to get our loads in a safe place. Then we found our way home.

The house too is quite far. Felelee. Felele is a place in Lokoja. I had a rough day, but we give glory to God still.

I still will say today is a good day. Cos I met Charis a beautiful baby.

Today is a blessed day.
