Hi friends,

Last Friday, Pongal was celebrated. After celebrating Pongal, in the evening, we went to the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Coimbatore. That temple is very famous. There is a belief that if you go to that temple and make a wish, it will surely be fulfilled. Lighting a ghee lamp at that temple is a tradition. Therefore, since a wish we had previously made was fulfilled, and also to make further wishes, we went to that temple with our family.

This temple is very old; it was a small temple built in the eighteenth century. Now, due to the large number of visitors, the ruling government itself manages it. Five years ago, it was renovated and significantly enlarged. Now the temple is large, very beautiful, and magnificent.

The most important feature of this temple is the ghee lamp hall. Here, the ten incarnations of Lord Krishna have been symbolically sculpted and placed on the wall. Similarly, the idol of Sri Narasimha Swamy is also placed there. Before it, devotees light lamps and worship God. Since we also went there to light ghee lamps, we bought the lamps, placed them there, inserted the wicks, poured the ghee, lit them, and offered aarti to God before worshipping.

This temple is located at the intersection of Coimbatore's very popular streets: Periya Kadai Veethi, Raja Veethi, and Oppanakara Veethi, so it is very busy. There was a large crowd there. After finishing our temple visit, we took our vehicle from the parking lot. Due to the heavy traffic, the vehicle management was challenging. Since there were many shops, we looked at them and took pictures as we went along. Because the Pongal festival was going on, many shops were closed. However, the shops that were open also had crowds of people. We took pictures of all of them as we went. After that, we parked the car at a restaurant and went in for dinner.

The restaurant called Sri Saravana Bhavan was very beautiful. They already have many branches in Tamil Nadu and across India. This restaurant was previously owned by another company. Now, they have taken it over, completely renovated it, and made it very beautiful. They are now running this restaurant. It is very good, and their service is also excellent.

Since it was a holiday that day, many people were coming to Coimbatore and returning. As the restaurant was on the way back, it was crowded that day. When we arrived, we couldn't find a seat. After waiting for a while, we finally got one. After we sat down, they gave us the menu card. South Indian, North Indian, and Chinese dishes were listed. In the South Indian section of the dinner menu, there were items like idli, dosa, parotta, chapati, uthappam, paniyaram, and vada. Each dish also had different varieties listed separately. Their prices were mentioned next to them. Similarly, the North Indian section included dishes like Veg Kofta, Paneer Butter Masala, and Chola Puri. The Chinese section listed dishes like noodles and fried rice.

After looking at everything, we ordered an Onion Uthappam from the South Indian section, a Chilli Parotta from the North Indian section, and a Mushroom Noodles from the Chinese section. After ordering, all the dishes arrived at the table after about ten minutes. We took pictures of the food. Then we all shared and ate. The food was very delicious, especially the Onion Uthappam.

After finishing our meal, we paid the bill, went to our car parked nearby, got in, and then drove home. That's how the evening ended wonderfully. I hope you enjoyed this diary entry. Please do share your comments in the comments section.
