The bride standing with me in the first photo is a doctor in Hyderabad. She is going to London soon to pursue higher education in medicine. Her family is also a medical family. Both her father and mother are doctors. Since this is a family and traditional event, it is customary to wear traditional clothes accordingly. I wore our traditional dress, a sari. I had made that sari last week for this event. It was made of silk and designed with lace. I loved it.
This is the second event of a wedding that has taken place. The first event is that the groom's family goes to the girl's house and sees the girl. The second is the tradition of exchanging such plates. The third is the engagement ceremony. During the engagement ceremony, it is customary to announce the wedding date, reception date, etc. Since this plate ceremony was held the day before yesterday, we also went to my brother-in-law's house with our family. Many other relatives also came. The ceremony started at around 12 noon. Then everyone introduced their respective families to everyone.
After introducing all the members, they presented the seer plates they had brought as gifts to my brother-in-law, i.e. the groom's family, and similarly, they also presented plates to the bride's family. Then everyone greeted the bride and groom, i.e., the ones who are going to get married. They greeted and blessed both of them. After blessing them every day, we also blessed them when our turn came. Then everyone took a picture with them today. I also took a picture on my mobile phone.
After that, the party was held. There was a small function hall near the house. The party was held in it. The party was served on banana leaves. The food consisted of biryani, rice, sambar, gravy, fried rice, appalam, sweet vada, payasam, pickles, etc.
After everyone had eaten, we mingled and chatted with all the relatives. I was thrilled to see everyone. They were also very happy to meet me. Then they all left one by one. We said goodbye to everyone and returned home at about five o'clock. I was very happy to participate in this event.
