The Diary Game: A Memorable Saturday ( 31st-01-2026)

Happy New Month Family. May this month bring us peace, joy and love. I'll be sharing my Saturday's episode with you and I'll make it as brief as possible. Saturday was filled with a lot of activities. Our General Manager, Ejoko Odey, laid her mum to rest on 31st of January 2026 and that happened to be on Saturday. The funeral was at Cross river state, Calabar. It was mandatory that all staffs were in attendance. All staffs in Akwa Ibom were supposed to meet at Ekom Iman junction before moving.

Our meeting point

The driver arrived some minutes after everyone was ready. We began our journey to Calabar. It's been a while I travelled so, it was really exciting for me. The journey wasn't so smooth. There was too much dust on the road because of the harmattan and the road is under construction. I had to use my nose mask to prevent myself from inhaling so much dust. My pregnant colleague was complaining about the road condition and how it affected her so badly.

We chatted inside the bus, those that brought food, snacks and drinks ate it. There were new infrastructures on the road that got our attention. The governor is Akwa Ibom State has really done a nice work in developing the state. It was a smooth ride because there was no traffic at that time of the day. We got to Cross River State by 10:15 am. We met at the Park with some of our colleagues from the Calabar branch. They took us to the church where the funeral was supposed to take place. They made just finished the lying in state and the funeral began.

At the funeral ground

The doctrine of the church was quite different from ours but I enjoyed it though. Although thiers was a bit longer, it was ohk. A lot of people said good things about the deceased. I've not known her for so long but the little I got to know her, I can say that she truly is a good person. It's quite unfortunately that she died at the age of 65 without eating the fruit of her labor. Our General Manager was very sorrowful but we tried to console her.

I won't fail to talk about the decorations at the venue. It was superb. One of it's kind. There was this pool with a waterfall that really got my attention. The decorator really did a wonderful work. He did a really decent work. I got his contact Incase I had an occasion. He base in Calabar but as far as he can give me what I want I don't mind the price.

After the funeral, everyone headed to the reception venue. It was a stone's throw from the church. There were already seats arranged properly at the venue. The ushers and the buffet stand were already set. We were directed to the seat preserved for us. Before the more people trooped in, we decided to take pictures.

The MC arrived and the event started. He was really vibrant. The DJ as well refused to be left out. Other organisations came in. To console the family and keep the event lively, the made jokes, played games, sang and danced. Our company wasn't left out in the joy. I enjoyed every bit if it.

We were given food and drinks. I ate fried rice and chicken with carbonated drinks. I was even given take away. After eating, we all stood up to dance and cheer our GM. I couldn't help but join us in to dance. I was happy that was finally getting herself together.

Eating

After all the celebration, it was time to go home and we all got on the bus. We left Calabar by 5pm. Our GM, bud us good bye and we left. We were held in traffic for over two hours. It became really frustrating. My husband and kids kept calling over and over again. After getting out from the first traffic, we got into around which lasted for an hour. Some people slept off already. We got to Akwa Ibom by 11 pm. Before I could board a bus to my house, it was already very late. I met my husband and children outside waiting for me. Good night family!!!!!

REMAIN BLESSED 🤍
