Happy Birthday To My Elder Sister: A Talk On Consistency
Alright, so before I say what I want to say, I am coming to wish my elder sister a happy birthday, she is my backbone, a prayer warrior and also my confidant. She has so blessed me with her words since I was very little and I can't count how many times she has fought for me both in school and at home. I am wishing you the very best life has to offer sister and I know you will so live long to see your great grand children, Amen.

That was by the way, today, I would really want to talk about CONSISTENCY, that's the keyword in today's conversation. I am having this discussion because I asked someone a question today, she called me from Nigeria and we talked and when I asked her what she is doing currently, she told me she is learning how to barb hair. And I can tell you for free, I was there when she was learning tailoring, I was also there when she was serving under a business man who deals on computer accessories as well.
As much as I can remember, I still remember she has learnt over 5 things and yet she keeps folding up within months into the business and when I asked her today why, she told me those things aren't for her, so why learn them at first? The last time I could remember, you weren't forced to learning these things you are no more functioning in them, why learn them?
It wasn't hard to pinpoint what she lacked and I told her she isn't consistent with what she does. You can't be jumping from one thing to the other and expect to have a good result, no, it doesn't work that way. You have to be known for something, you have to chose your niche and work there consistently.
No doubt, one needs to explore and try out other things, but this should happen when you are being known and you are grounded by what you are known for. You can't be selling food today and the next day you are selling kitchen wares, as much as I appreciate your versatility, it doesn't really sit well. You have to be known for something, that's where consistency comes in.
I also have a friend in Nigeria who sells food by the roadside when I was still in my early days in footballing career, now she has her restaurant and you know what people call her?- 'Nwanyi Nri' meaning 'food woman'. Now, people knows her for that, there is no how you visit her and she will be lacking, she is always in her place of assignment 24/7 and has built that confidence to the point people would book her food before she even starts preparing it because she has earned that trust.
You can't be 35 years of age and still jumping around, it means your mindset needs to rewired. It's not rosy anywhere, even the most successful person you are seeing today, there are days he will sit and cry himself to bed because life has hit but will you run or give up at first sign of inconvenience? No! That's not how it is being done.
I remember when I was still coming up in my football career, I was told how hard it is to play in Nigeria NPFL and how hard it is to also make it out of here, they were right because I met people way older than myself and even my parents still in the NPFL and yet I came and got signed out. It did not happen overnight and I am not always of the opinion that there is anything as 'overnight success', people paid the price of consistency even when they were unsure of the journey, so should you.
I am not coming to condemn you my friends if you have tried so many things but to tell you that you need to sit down and really think of what you want people to know you of. When you are known for something, that's when value comes in and value can never be left unappreciated. Be CONSISTENTLY CONSISTENT friends. I am rooting for you all.
