Quick recipe


What dishes do you prepare in your region using gram flour? Are any of them cooked by steaming?


In Bangladesh, gram flour is commonly used to make beeguni, piyaju, pakora and bara, which are fried snacks. A very popular dish in Bangladesh is made with gram flour, which is bundia. It is a dessert item. Foods prepared by steaming with gram flour are rarely seen in Bangladesh, but dhokla is a steamed dish, which many people are currently choosing as a healthy alternative. Currently, such steamed dishes are very popular in Bangladesh.


Make the "Khaman Dhokla (Gram Flour Cake)" or any similar dish that are shared in the course, or make them as per your style, with a detailed step-by-step procedure along with images.

Making Process


Step- I

Making baking soda water

First I took a small bowl, add a quarter teaspoon of baking soda. Pour half glass of water. Then mixed it thoroughly, and set it aside.

Add turmaric powder, sugar, oil, salt to gram flour

Then I take a large bowl put 1 cups of gram flour to it. I sugar, turmeric powder, oil and salt as per my mentioned amount.

Add lemon extract and make batter

In this step, I took a lemon extract the juice and mix the juice into the flour. After that I pour in water and mix thoroughly using a spoon.I Continue adding water little by little and mixing until the mixture reaches the consistency of a smooth batter.

Add soda water

I took a bowl with high side and oil brush it. Then I add baking soda power to the batter and mixed it carefully. Finally I pour the batter in the oiled bowl.

Then I boil water for steaming the batter. Place it on the boil water and let it steam for about 10 minutes.

Making Sugar syrup

In this step, I take a bowl. pour water and add sugar. Mixed the sugar and prepare a sugar syrup.

Saute mustard seeds, green chilies, hing.

Then I place a pan on the stove, heat oil. Then drop mustard seeds, green chilies, hing. I turn off the stove after these saute well. Let it cool for a while and then add sugar syrup on it.

Transfer the cake

After steaming for about 10 minutes, I open the lid, remove the bowl, and transfer it onto another plate.

Add liquid coating

Finally, I spread the liquid sugar syrup and other saute ingredients properly so that flavour reach every part and the cut it into piecea with a knife. I garnish with chopped coriander leaves. And It's done.
