The Diary Game:||1 /4/2026|| Reporting at the ward and facing challenges with the psychiatric patients, followed by an exciting birthday celebration.

Greetings to you all. And happy New month to you. Today was both stressful and exciting, but I thank God for making it a success and memorable. So this morning I woke up early at 5am, prayed, did my personal hygiene routine and chores, ate, and went to the ward for my clinical experience.

Breakfast

At the ward there was not too much work until 10am when medication was given to all the psychiatric patients, and to be sincere, it wasn't easy because we had to persuade and sweet-talk with the patients before they were able to cooperate with us. We had to plead with them to come out with their water before giving them the drugs to take them in our presence because some will collect the drugs in their mouth under their tongue, pretending to take the drugs, but will later spit them out into the toilet, and this has happened on several occasions. After that we left, but some of my colleagues were still interacting with the patients, but I left them and went to the nursing station.

Later in the day at 12pm we were informed that the preceptor wanted to meet with us at the OPD (at the outpatient department) for a brief class session on the topic of mental health. We all assembled at the venue, waiting for the preceptor. A few minutes later he arrived and began the classes with us. To our surprise, the brief lecture actually extended till 2pm, and we were all tired and exhausted.

By 2pm I went back to the hostel, showered, ate lunch, and rested, and later on went to prep. During prep time in the evening at 5pm an unexpected birthday celebration took place in class, although it was disturbing because I wanted to read at that time, but still I had to celebrate with them for a while, and I also didn't want to miss the sharing of the cake because that's my favorite part of birthdays.

So drinks were shared, the cake was cut, and everyone began to celebrate with the birthday celebrant. The air was filled with joy as students were dancing as if they were drunk, so after celebrating with the birthday girl, everyone went to their different destinations, and I went back to continue with my studies since my mental health examination is forthcoming and I wrote in my diary after that.
