The Diary Game: A Chef's Day Out—Cooking For A Birthday Bash(14-12-2025)
I was contracted today to cook in an event. I told you all that I offer premium catering services for all event; birthday, naming ceremony, marriage ceremony, and even burial. Infact, I offer both outdoor and indoor catering services. So, I should have been in church on Sunday but work came calling and I had to go and deliver. I have receipts to prove that.
I was asked to do jollof rice and as an African Woman, I came prepared with my wrapper. The money they gave me to purchase chicken, I used just that to buy chicken and when I came back, I gave it to the guy that was with me and asked him to slaughter and butcher them for me. When he did, I took them in and washed them then season them and steamed.
It wasn't a big party, like an outdoor, it was a birthday celebration and the total amount of chicken I used there was about 7. You can see from the picture above how I used a bigger pot so that everything will contain and a little space would be left.
After that, I went outside and took delivery of the firewood I paid for and also met with the celebrant to know when he would want to party to start so that I can know how to calculate my moves. When he told me, I had to take my time and do other things.
When I got the carrot, I began to chop them I to really tiny pieces, you know fried rice can't be a complete fried rice without carrot. I had my onions available so that immediately I am done with that, I will just slice it at once. This is my happy place, where I can be in the kitchen and cook what people would certainly love to eat and get complemented for it.
After that, I put the pot on fire and began to cook, more like me doing the entire cooking now. I loved the sound of the hot oil and when I applied the onions to it. I began to cook by 1pm since the party was to start by 4pm so that by that time, the food would still be very hot for the guests to eat.
Halfway into the cooking, I took the coolers outside and began to wash them, this is when I had finished applying all the ingredients in the fried rice and was waiting for the water to dry off so that I could dish them off to the coolers and keep for the guests. The only thing that seemed to be an issue was sun because we weren't given a shed and I forgot to construct one when I got here.

Anyways, it's just what I love doing, so when I finished washing the coolers, I opened the pot and the food was done. I called on the guy I came with to help me so that I can put the pot down from the fire. When he did, I began to dish the food into the coolers so that I can keep it for the guests. When I finished, I dished the one I wanted to give the celebrant specially and then handed it over to him then I went and had my rest small.
I dished the food, gave to the person I came with and then took the coolers inside, covered them and came outside to clear up the place I used to cook incase they would have to make use of the spot. When I finished, I removed the firewoods and kept aside, I would be taking that back home to my mum incase she would have use of it any of these days.

When I finished ,I was so tired then I got my pay and went back home. As I got to the house, I had to take time to take my bath. I used my body scrub and also when I was done, I applied my cologne and then went to bed. I wanted to just go to bed directly but then again, I had to share this diary before I go to bed.
