On today, January 13, 1776 the British forces raid Prudence Island, in effort to steal large quantity of sheep. However, the plan did not turn out well, upon landing, they were ambushed by 15 minutemen from Rhode Island's Second Company led by Captain Joseph Knight, who were tipped off to the plans.
Due to the deadly battle, in the end, British had no choice but to retreat.
