Rembrandt Peale - Self-portrait

He was born into a artist family, his father and brothers were also painters.
Rembrandt was mentored in arts by his father from an very early age, who also taught him how to paint portraits and scenery.
Already at the age of 13 he made his first self portrait, which he later used as motivation for beginning painters as an example of progress.
At the age of 17, in 1795, Rembrandt made his debut by painting George Washington, making him appear older then he was.

What a fitting name for a painter. Do you know whether or not it was his birth name or a name he took later in life?

Wow! I didn't know Rembrandt was from PA.
