HALF-DROWNED BAT RESCUE

in Amazing Nature3 years ago

Poor thing!

After receiving a call from a neighbor about a drowning bat in the swimming pool, I quickly drove over to see if I could help. After removing the bat from the pool, I decided to move it away from the dogs and cats around the swimming pool area and provide it an opportunity to get dry, warm, and some rest. Once it was basically dry, I placed it on a log in our wood shed for it to continue resting and gaining strength. Hours went by and it never moved. It just napped and breathed. Then, after dark, it disappeared. We can only hope for the best.

PLEASE NOTE - It is best to leave wild bats alone. Do not attempt to capture or move them. They can bite, spread diseases, and are often protected by law. The only reason I interacted with this one was to prevent it from drowning and then to prevent it from being killed by a domesticated "predator."

Awesome rescue! I routinely rescue bees out of the community swimming pool, lol.
