This is the Shaheed Minar, which is located at Chashara , the heart of Narayanganj city in Bangladesh and is known as Chashara Shaheed Minar, a shining symbol of the spirit of those who were martyred in 1952 during the Language Movement. It is not just a structure, but a living memorial of Bengali patriotism and love for their mother tongue.
Such symbols have been installed in various places in Bangladesh, and when February 21 comes, the place becomes a meeting place of deep emotion and respect.

📜 Background of the Language Movement
The great Language Movement of 1952 was a struggle for survival for Bengalis. When the Pakistani government decided to make Urdu the only state language, the people of East Bengal erupted in protest. On February 21, Salam, Barkat, Rafiq, Jabbar and many others were martyred in police firing in Dhaka city.
The Language Movement also had a lot of impact in Narayanganj. The students and workers here all played an active role in the movement. Later, the Chashara Shaheed Minar was established on their initiative.
🌹 The emotion of Ekushey February
A gathering started at this place on February 21 at 12:01 am, where everyone dressed in black to pay their respects and paid tribute to the martyrs by laying flowers in a row. The song “Amar Bhaiyer Rokte Rangano Ekushey February” was played, and slogans of respect were heard all around.

🎯 Importance in the current context.
Currently, the Chashara Shaheed Minar has become an important landmark in Narayanganj. It is not only a memorial to the language movement, but also the center of various social and democratic programs in the city.

Coming here, they remember the sacrifices of language martyrs and pledge to protect the dignity of their mother tongue. The Chashara Shaheed Minar is not just a brick and stone monument, but as long as the Bengali language survives, this minar will remind us of our history and sacrifices.
It is quite beautiful to see because it is red in every white, this place is now a place of honor for people. It has been opened to the public for entry. It is open 24 hours, as well as some food shops, flower shops and other shops.
There are 3 colleges and 3 universities in Chashara, so it is crowded with students, teachers and the general public every day.
There is a 5th gate to enter. Although the place is small, it is round, so it is easy for people to go here because there are gates on all sides.
This symbol has become a benefit for the people of Narayanganj, as it is in Chashara, everyone comes here on February 21st and pays tribute with flowers. Today, we can speak Bengali because of them; they were the ones who carried out the movement and became martyrs, so their names are remembered with the Bengali language, and it will always be there. This is our mother tongue, and this mother tongue is celebrated on February 21st in this Shahid Minar.
