In this second week with the theme 'Steemit Engagement Challenge S3-W2: Impact of technology on children's lives'. Hopefully we will be wiser in supervising and teaching our children in using of technology.

Technology is a tool that makes human work easier. We know that technology is growing rapidly from day to day, week to week and month to month and even a year to come. Current technology may be different from the technology that will exist in the future, it will even be many times better than current technology. Therefore, today's technology is not only used and understood by adults, but also by children.

Overall technology gives us more positive impacts than negative impacts. As we know that the first use of technology by humans is started when natural resources are converted and utilized into various kinds of tools that will provide convenience and comfort for humans themselves.

A few years ago we did not know the name of software technology, but now its use has become a friend in our daily activities. We can also look at the world of education where learning methods are also carried out in a virtual way and there are many other examples such as business methods etc.

Computers, laptops, cellphones, blenders, other machines, cars, and others are examples of real technology that we can see around us. If in the past cars could only run on the ground, now we can see cars that can fly, it's really magical!

In the world of technology we can feel the benefits are very many including;

• With technology, we can do a job easier, faster and more efficiently.

The excessive and uncontrolled use of technology also has a negative impact in several ways, such as;

• Interaction between each other is decreasing even we do not know who lives next to our house.
• reduced job opportunities for workers due to the presence of technology and resulting in more and more poor people and there will be many crimes.
• the war that occurs will be more complicated and destroy each other using the most advanced weapons without realizing other impacts such as the damage will be more severe and the victims will be more and more.

Once we know how technology impacts the world as a whole, then we will know how technology impacts children's lives. Technology is now increasingly sophisticated and modern so that it can hypnotize anyone from men and women, adults and children. Let's study the case together.

Children at the age of 4-5 years is a period where their curiosity is very high and this is inseparable from new technology that they have never seen and access before. They will think how someone is in a box but we can't reach it, how the game of football is in a game. Are we going to ban it or let it?

There are positive things from the use of technology in children's lives and one of them is the use of computers, as we know that computers provide us with extraordinary knowledge by accessing it on the internet. We as parents can teach children how to use computers from an early age. We can teach it as a learning process like how to type with one hand first and then gradually with both hands. This will provide benefits to children when they enter school later, because the computer will later be used to find information for their school assignments with Internet access of course. We can also introduce them to games that can be useful and if not accessible via the internet. One way that we can do is to make software security so that he can't open sites that we don't want right.

The negative thing about technology in children's lives is that excessive use of technology such as children will watch television all day or play games without knowing time will affect children in many aspects such as their desire to learn and socialize will be lost. His health will also be disturbed and his mental will be damaged when he sees what is forbidden and moreover, addiction to technology is very difficult to recover, therefore parental supervision is an obligation not a requirement. Actually, judging a technology depends on how parents teach and supervise it from an early age. Because technology is very difficult to separate from all circles of children. Technology demands that they continue to be used, especially when the COVID-19 virus becomes a pandemic. Schools are closed but learning is done virtually through computers so that it requires the child to be good at using it so that children can still learn and gain knowledge.

And the negative impact is that when children are separated from the supervision of their parents, they will be spoiled by gadgets so that they will feel addicted and find it difficult to let go. There are many cases that we can see in any part of the country when children lose consciousness and even their lives while playing online games where Wi-Fi is available, they forget to eat and don't sleep. It's really sad. In my opinion, the positive and negative impact will be greater on children's lives when we parents teach children to be wise and smart in using technology. Parents must always be vigilant and try to limit children from using smartphones and often invite them to interact more with the environment, this will be good for their intelligence.

Of course we must be the main control in the use of a technology product by children. As I said above that we must be at the forefront of children, do not stop trying to teach our children a policy in the use of technology. If my children require them to use technological conveniences such as smartphones, then I still won't buy them a smartphone, they can use my smartphone and limit them to using it 20 minutes a day and must be under my supervision, I will take the smartphone back and avert their eyes from smartphones such as inviting them to garden together, play together. When they have to have it, then I will install security software on the device. If we teach them from an early age, I'm sure they will be wiser and more alert and even innovate if possible.
