Homework post for spanish lesson 2: Sounds of words/ by madilyn02

Hello dear friends, I'm delighted to be participating in this lesson and to be submitting my homework.
This post will be my homework task for the Spanish lesson 2 by @frankingcol where we learnt the letters and sounds of the Spanish alphabets. Blow I'll be attempting all the task that was given by the teacher...

Watch the video that I have left during the class, listen carefully (preferably use headphones). After listening, repeat the name and sound of the letters. Comment your experience and how similar you have pronounced it to the video.

While listening to the video, I tried to repeat all the alphabets and sounds the same way he teacher did.

The alphabet

Pronouncing the alphabets wasn't really a problem for me. I observed that some letters are pronounced very differently from the English alphabet. One of such letters is the letter G, it is pronounced as if to say we were breathing out. Most of the letters are pronounced similarly to the English letters.

The sounds

While listening to the sounds, was able to get a few pronunciations. I also observed a few things, for example the sound for letter H is silent. Also the letter C has well it is so in English too. Another sound I noticed to be different is the J sound, in English we pronounce it different from the way it is pronounced in the video, in the video it is almost pronounced as a H sound.
There are many sounds that are pronounced differently and I'll need to keep practicing to master them because when reading Spanish I will need to know the correct pronunciation and sounds of each letter and not pronouncing them like in English.

Write in your own words what is called diphthong and what is called tripthong.

Diphthong

A Diphthong is a sound that is formed by the combination of two vowel sounds. One vowel always follows another in the given word. Diphthongs always cause the movement of the tongue while speaking.
I found two Spanish words with Diphthongs; Hay, reina.

Triphthongs

A Triphthong is the combination of three different vowels in the same row. The three vowels are written simultaneously...
It is usually the combination of one strong vowel in between two weak vowels.

Tells the story behind some of the letters of the alphabet in Spanish (at least two letters) other than those of the class.

Most of the Spanish alphabets uses variants of the latin alphabet and that is where most of he Spanish words are derived from. Most if the letters are also derived from the Greek alphabets and also french.

For example the Spanish letter o has its origin from a latin diphthong AU.
Some Spanish words that has this letter was derived from latin words. One of such example is the Spanish word for leaf Hoja, it was derived from the Latin word Folia.
There are also other examples of words with the letter o that was derived from latin.

Another letter is the J. It's pronunciation which jota arose from the Greek letter iota.

Select a song in Spanish and start listening to it until you learn it (learning it is not an obligation). Write which song you have chosen, why you chose that song and how it went for you listening to it

I selected a song with a Spanish version. The song is entitled "Se agradecido".
I use to sing the song previously in Spanish but I wasn't pronouncing all the letters and words correctly. But after this lesson and knowing the letters and sounds, I was able to revisit the song again with it's lyrics I'm sure I was able to pronounce at least 85% of the words correctly.

I like the song because of the simple way it is expressed. It is a song for children and the wordings are not too long.

Listening carefully to the song helped helped me to memorize the Spanish words and phrases while enjoying the music. This could be a fun way of learning this new language.
