SEC17 WK:#6: My Family, My Pride!

Talking about my family gives me joy because they are all a bundle of joy. My family is my support machine, my strength in weakness, my hope when all is lost, and my comforters in times of distress. They are "beckoning on me, and I will answer!"

I came from a very small family of five: my father, my mother, my elder brother, and my kid brother. We are not the perfect family, but we are blessed in all forms. Do you know what they say about a family that prays together? They always stay connected, even from afar; they are connected.

While I was growing up, my mom would wake us up very early in the morning to have a morning devotion. I always read the Bible; my mom would lead the praise while my brother or dad would conclude the prayer. This pattern went on and on until we all became adults.

There are moments we fight, disagree, and quarrel, but at the end, we embrace peace. One thing I learned from my parents was "united we stand, divided we fall." They made us understand that we must always be together, watch each other back, care for each other, for each other, and love each other.

Things that make my family stand out from others, that makes it an envy of others

Praying together

Just like I mentioned above, praying together was one thing that kept us going. It was and is still the bedrock on which my family stands. We never miss a day without praying. When we join hands to pray, things work faster because we all agree. Even when we wake up late, we must finish our morning devotion before preparing for school. That was how important it was in my family.

Being contented

It was one act of my family that was loved around our neighborhood. Everyone feels we have it all, but they did not know it was training that brought us to that level of contentment. We mind our business and don't let what others eat, wear, or say affect us. Our minds were built on minding our business, and that was how we overcame all trials and temptations.

Eating together

Oh, these were the happy times with my family. It created a bond between all of us. Eating together made us understand how important each member is in the family. This was the envy of people around; I wouldn't know what they wished for us, but each time they see us eating and laughing together, they must have something to say.

Our good communication skills

Communication is very vital in any relationship, and my family was built on a good communication platform. My mom taught me how to communicate through signals, either a hand signal or an eye signal. Each time she has visitors, it amazes them how we all communicate without uttering a word. That is the best part of my family.

Story telling time

This time, it was always fun. We sit together in the compound under the moon, while my dad, the storyteller, sits on his special seat to entertain us. We would laugh so loudly that it disturbed the neighborhood. If it were a sad story, we would all cry, and no one would hear our voice. It helped build us up for better togetherness.

My family is the best and sweetest, and I would wish to be back in my next life. My family's arms are always open to receive and accommodate people. When we cook in my family, we don't cook just for the immediate family members; we cook for external bodies that we don't know about.

My dad does not like to have a visitor without giving them something to eat, so he always makes sure we cook extra in case we have a visitor. If you stay with my family, you won't want to go back because they will entertain you, make you comfortable, and shower you with love.

I have an uncle that stopped coming to our house. My parents didn't know he purposely stopped coming until one day we heard he visited town but never came home to spend the weekend. The next week, his sister visited my family, and in the middle of a conversation, she said her brother stopped coming because of the too much care, attention, and love he receives from my family.

I didn't know people could run away from love when they receive too much. I didn't understand it until I grew older. The family bond we share is so unique that people wonder where we invented it.

If I was to gift my family

Family vacation would be the option!
Having a special time out with my family would be fun. I would love to have a ship tour with them, staying on the ship for two days, sleeping, and waking up. Eating whatever we wished.

My parents had wished to travel to Turkey 🇹🇷 for a holid;y, if I could grant them this long wih, and allow my family to visit this place, that would be an amazing gift.

It would serve as a reunion for us all. Eating together, remembering the old times, telling lovely stories, and having all the necessary fun!

In conclusion, family is no. 1. No matter how high we go or fly, we still have family to run back to. It doesn't matter what we've acquired or become; without family, it's like being all alone in this world.
