Application for Steemit Community Curators - October 2024

Hello, Steemit Team and everyone in the community. Over the last three weeks, we’ve learned quite a bit about the platform as Team 7. From the onset, our mission goals (@httr4life and I) have been to maximize @steemcurator09’s voting power to as many different users as possible, especially those not currently being rewarded. We believe we’ve made significant strides toward achieving those goals, and we’d like the opportunity to continue with our curator journey in October.

In our curator application for September, we discussed several qualifications the team had that would make us good candidates, including our both being fluent in multiple languages. One thing we’ve learned is that the language barrier is non-existent in these times of having translator programs readily available, but having prior knowledge of multiple languages has been a lifesaver in terms of understanding dialog and video. That alone has led to dozens of great discussions we’ve both had with users across the platform.

One of our key stances is, “Comments are the lifeblood of any social website. Without them, you have nothing but a soulless echo chamber.” As a team, we’ve made it a point to reward comments as well as posts and will continue to do so. This can only help the site as new users want to feel welcome. If there is no greeting in the comment section, they’ll likely feel unseen.

We also feel like non-forced interactions have more merit than just leaving a picture that says you’ve upvoted. Actually connecting with the user about the content means something and helps build a stronger community in the long run. This rings especially true for the comment sections as it’s way more natural to upvote a comment and perhaps comment back if you have a good response, but leaving picture comments with no dialog breaks up the overall flow of the conversation itself. The conversation has to fit naturally and cannot be forced.

Curation Activity Chart

  • @httr4life owns two communities: American Steem and The World of Sports. @philhughes owns the 'My Mind is on Music' community.

  • We are currently trying to build a stronger American contingency on this platform. He runs the communities; I'm just trying to help add content at this point, as there isn't much else to do in a new community. I believe I am officially listed as a mod, but I WILL VACATE THAT TITLE IF NECESSARY...was done because I was the only person in the group at the time.

As stated above, we’re committed to building a stronger American presence (we have a long way to go) while also connecting with the world on Steemit through the American Steem, World of Sports, and the recently formed My Mind is on Music communities. While these communities are still in their infant stages, our efforts to generate quality content and attract users from all walks of life already have a foothold.

As we move forward, we’re committed to expanding these spaces and contributing more valuable content that will appeal to an audience that spans across borders. We’re also committed to helping others build new communities through the curation process or any other possible way.

Thank you for your time, consideration, and the opportunity you supplied to us as Team 7 in September. We’ve enjoyed this process and hope to continue.
