RE: Sommerloch / Summer slump

I share your optimism, but I do wish that war and conflict would come to an end more quickly...

We have extremely rich, fertile soil here in the area – black earth and loess. We’d probably have had to mix in some sand for the carrots, or as you say, wood shavings. To start with, I wanted to know what grows well here without too much effort. We’ll make some adjustments... ;-))

Sort:

River sand is the right solution, but how much can you add? It's not an easy task.

We have a lot of people who want the end of the war and peace, but... people are afraid to say it out loud. The punitive machine is working cruelly. I recently listened to interviews of war veterans, they just enjoy the fact that they have the opportunity to kill people. one said, "the desire to kill is akin to the pleasure of sex, I sexually enjoy the knowledge that I have killed a man and his wife and children are waiting for him at home, but he is already dead."
My wife couldn't hear all this, it's very disgusting.

That is the problem with purely volunteer armies. Amongst others, those who derive pleasure from weapons, from violence, and perhaps from torturing and killing, sign up. Of course, I am still against compulsory military service; in my view, no one should be forced to serve in the armed forces. The armed forces would, however, be less homogeneous as a result, interspersed with people who have normal inhibitions and a conscience... The only solution is, and always will be, to consistently ban armaments and the military. There must be a binding obligation to non-violence, worldwide… I see no sign whatsoever – absolutely none – of any willingness to do this. Okay, actually there is. There are countries that do without their own military. Some place themselves under the protectorate of others, but some manage just fine on their own. We should follow their example.
