Making my own Cinnamon Flavored Black Coffee! And a homemade Coffee Scrub!

in GEMS4 years ago

If you've read My Entry in the @tasteem Coffee Break contest, you know by now I'm a coffee freak and I own my own small home espresso machine!

Today afternoon I found myself craving for a cup of black drip coffee! So I though I would take you through the making of black coffee and share some of my personal favorite tips!

Let's get started then!

This is my coffee machine, warming up. See the orange light!

It's ready when the green light pops up. While the machine warms up, I filled it up with fresh water. This is important! EVERY TIME you make coffee you must use fresh water. If there's some water left from the previous day, discard it first, and then add fresh water.

That's the water compartment. And then I'll add my ground coffee over the filter.

A personal trick...

When I'm grinding my coffee, I'll always add a few sticks of cinnamon along with the beans into my grinder! This blends the cinnamon flavor very smoothly with the grind. I prefer grinding the cinnamon stick together with the beans instead of separately adding cinnamon powder as I feel adding the cinnamon separately doesn't give the smoothness as it does when you incorporate it into the grind itself! Just my two cents, form years of experimenting!

The machine has warmed up and ready to let the flavors flow into my cup!

Cinnamon flavored Black Coffee, as smooth as you like!

Final 2 cents, let nothing go to waste!

What have you been doing with the ground that remains after the coffee extraction is done? Discarding it?

Don't just throw them away! You've heard of scrubbing, haven't you! Yes, you can use these as a facial scrub or even as whole body scrub if you're making 4-5 cups of coffee at a time and you have enough of these ground to discard!

Scrap out the grind, squeeze half a lemon and add a teaspoon of honey and voila! You have yourself a 100% natural and free facial scrub! Scrub once or twice a week, it works wonders!

Keep in mind though, that if you wanna scrub, the coffee has to be ground very, very finely. A coarse grind if used as scrub might actually injure your skin!

Enough tips and tricks! Let me enjoy my cinnamon coffee now!

Until next Time!

Keep Calm and Drink Coffee!

Did you say coffee? Love putting cinnamon in my coffee... especially if the coffee beans are a bit older...it can make a slightly older bean smooth. Not to mention the additional health benefits. I'm sipping my morning Joe while reading the posts... cheers and bottoms up.

Yes it does make olders beans taste smoother than it normally would! Nice to have someone who understands coffee read my post!

Cheers Mate!
