Dear Steemit Team,
Entering the fourth week, participants learned how guide lines, symmetry, and perspective can be used to highlight the structure and character of bridges. Bridges may rarely be the main subject in photography, but they have many natural lines that, when arranged well, can produce strong, neat, and professional-looking photos. Therefore, this week, participants will also be trained to choose the right shooting angle so that the bridge looks sturdy, long, and has visual depth.

Week 4 Learning Materials

There are several things to consider when taking photos in the fourth week, including Guide Lines, Symmetry, Perspective, Focus Point, and Main Structure.

1. Guide Lines
First, you must master guide lines, which are natural lines on bridges that serve to direct the viewer's eye to the main point of the photo. It's easy to find these lines, starting from railings, cables, bridge floors, iron frames, or shadows. These guide lines serve to make the bridge photos you take look more structured and have a clear visual direction.

2. Symmetry
Almost all bridges are built symmetrically and evenly. Symmetry will certainly create a balanced and neat impression in bridge photos. An easy way to keep your photos symmetrical is to place your camera right in the middle of the bridge, so that the left and right sides look balanced. Symmetry seems to be most suitable for suspension bridges and flyovers, where the strength of the design and beauty of the structure are visible.

3. Perspective
You should also incorporate perspective into your photos, as perspective is often used to convey the length, height, and depth of a bridge. Taking photos from a low angle can make a bridge look more majestic, while an elongated angle will emphasize distance and direction. Another benefit of perspective is that it makes your bridge photos look more dramatic and less flat.

4. Focus Points and Main Structure
Even though we know that bridges are full of lines and elements, you must determine one main focal point, such as the end of the bridge, the meeting point of lines, or a small object in the distance. Make sure the focus is clear so that the photo is easier to understand and has a visual story.
