STEEM for SDGs Stand With Turkey : Steemians Care for the Turkey Earthquake

A devastating earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale again rocked Turkish soil on Monday morning today (06/02/2023). The epicenter was reported to be at a depth of 10km from Gaziantep city. According to the Turkish Emergency Coordination Center (SAKO) the death toll in Turkey has reached 29,605 (Source: CNBC Indonesia).

Not only that, hundreds of buildings also collapsed due to the earthquake which trapped people in the ruins. Many people who have lost their homes are now surviving in refugee camps.

On that basis, we took the initiative to carry out a global movement to jointly help the victims of the earthquake in Turkey. Humanitarian movements must immediately become a priority for the time being for their survival.

I invite all Steemians to be able to help each other together in the humanitarian movement. The STEEM for SDGs program which focuses on empowering social, educational and charitable activities will be bridged by the SIAP MEMBANGUN community to collaborate together in channeling donations through official institutions.

When we trust one of the official institutions that will bridge all of us to distribute donations to earthquake victims in Turkey. I have joined this institution since 2021, it has been a gift and quite an extraordinary experience to be a volunteer under the HUMAN INITIATIVE agency.

Human Initiative (HI) is a humanitarian organization with the vision of moving goodness to human dignity. Founded in Indonesia on December 10, 1999, Human Initiative implements the Theory of Change (TOC) strategy and focuses on the positive impact of community empowerment programs, child protection programs, and disaster management and emergency response. Human Initiative has operational areas in 13 domestic branches and 3 overseas branches and has representatives in 13 countries. In carrying out its operations, the Human Initiative is supported by legality both at home and abroad, including from the Ministry of Social Affairs, UN-ECOSOC, Europe Aid, as well as a network of 3,000 volunteers who are members of the community (HIVE – Human Initiative Volunteer Energy) and are spread throughout Indonesia.

Through the official Solusipeduli.org page, the HUMAN INITIATIVE organization is currently raising funds for earthquake victims in Turkey with a total need of IDR 200 MILLION. Currently, the donations that have been collected are around IDR 106,773,281 from 922 donors. Until the period of 10 February 2023, donations that have been distributed to earthquake victims at the epicenter of the earthquake in the city of Kahramanmaras, Turkey are IDR 53,452,564.
