Towhee Ridge or Bust!☺️
Silvertop was watching the clock……….🙄
With the Winter solstice on December 21 of this year, daylight hiking hours are getting shorter and shorter!😮
“Alexa, what time is Sunset today?”
“Silvertop Sunset is 4:17 PM in the Pacific Northwest today!”
It was just after Noon when I finished splitting firewood.
It can take two hours to reach “Towhee Ridge”, and two hours to hike out of the darkest sections of trails in the forest!🙄
On three other hikes I wanted to reach “Towhee Ridge” and I had to turn around because of lack of daylight!😮
I was determined to reach it today Lol!😇
I always find so many interesting things to photograph along the way………………
Today Silvertop needed to quickly snap a few photos, and keep hiking!
The last thing you want is to be deep in the forest after dark!😺🐻
From “Bear Hollow”, you have one more ridge to hike uphill!
After the Big Leaf Maples drop their leaves in the Fall, you can almost see Towhee Ridge far above this trail!
I checked my watch again………….
I was 1 1/2 hours into today’s hike, and it would take another 30 minutes to reach the top!
It was going to be close!😅
Silvertop pushed onward………….
I climbed one more small hill, and I was sitting at the picnic table on Towhee Ridge!😀
The temperature had slowly started dropping, I pulled another jacket out of my backpack…….
I sat for a few minutes just enjoying this quiet secluded spot in the Mountains!
Keith my neighbor hauled all the lumber for this deck that sits miles from any road!
Few even know this place exists!😇
Times up…….. it was past time to start back!
After today, we have 22 more days before the days start getting longer…………..
Silvertop can’t wait Lol!😎
