The importance of numbers on Steemit

The experts say that numbers play an important role in our lives, professionally, financially, and socially.
I don’t know about you but I think that this time I agree with them.

Numbers are with us from the time we open our eyes in the early hours of the morning until the time we close them at the end of our day.

Numbers are everywhere we go and connect us with whatever we do.

I bet you that if you have to start counting, see there is that usage of numbers, the different things you use numbers for you will get more than two digits in your answer.

The understanding of numbers on Steemit is vital!

Today, I want to help my fellow Steemians who don’t know how to use “numbers” correctly on Steemit.

We take a closer look at numbers in;

1. Writing
2. Voting
3. Club status
4. Rules
5. The most important number

1. WRITING

On Steemit we use our writing skills in two ways;

1. To write a post
2. To comment or reply on a post or a comments/reply

Posting – The important number for posting is 300.

NEVER write a post of fewer than 300 words! I know this sounds silly if a contest states less than 300. Trust me, curators are looking for 300+ words.
If you do write less just keep in mind that it was your choice.

Commentary – A good comment or reply is 50 words and more

2. VOTING

Voting on posts is crucial. It is from voting that we earn rewards.

Two things to be on the lookout for when you vote.

1. Your voting power (VP)
2. Your voting CSI

Voting Power (VP)

As you all know voting on posts and comments is when you use the “upvote button” at the bottom of a post or comment and is used when you show your approval thereof.

Of importance is that this vote carries a value that depends on the Steem Power (SP) you have and there is a restriction on the voting.
This restriction prevents Steemians from bequeathing unlimited votes which in the end will be giving out rewards right, left, and center.

This is called Voting Power or VP set from 0% to 100%. When you start your journey on Steemit your voting is set to 100% and as you start voting it depletes. BUT, the beauty is that it recovers when you don’t vote.

This is where I see so many Steemians go wrong. They just vote and vote.
If your VP reaches a level under 80% it carries no value, zip, and zero! Your vote for your Steemian friend DOES NOT count.
Is this really what you want? Not to be able to support a good post.

I have seen plenty accounts with VP of less than 50%.

Your voting power should NEVER reach 100% and NEVER go lower than 80%.

For those who don’t know, you can view your voting power on Steemworld in the top left corner of the page.

1 = The current Voting Power
2 = The value of the vote (voted at 100%)
3 = The value of the vote (with the various percentage)

The beauty of this application is that it also tells you when your VP will recover in full. These numbers are important as it allows you to manage your time.

There are three ways in which you can make sure that your VP carries the value it should.

1. Vote 10 posts per day with the % set at 100%
2. Vote 20 posts per day with your voting % set at 50%
3. Vote 25 posts per day with your voting % set at v40%

I never recommend a vote % of 100% and only for one reason. You want maximum exposure for your posts. To enable you to receive you need to hand it out. Hand out the maximum votes that you can and you will start receiving votes from fellow Steemians.

And that my Steemian friends are all it takes, 20 or 25 votes on posts per day as well as for you to keep an eye on your VP % and recovering time.

Voting CSI

“Kindly increase your Voting CSI by voting on the posts of fellow Steemians. By voting and commenting you will also start receiving better support.”

This is a comment I often use in the verification of posts. If you have seen it, now is your time to learn how you can fix this problem.

Voting CSI is also available on Steemworld
It is a series of numbers that shows how active you are on the platform. These numbers are very important for curators and moderators when they measure your involvement on the platform.

Data recorded for the last 7 days will be shown.

Your voting support %

Your self-vote %

How many times you have voted

How many different accounts you have supported

Your voting CSI must be higher than 5% and your self-vote 0%.
NEVER vote for yourself!

All you need to do is to stick to the 20 (50%) or 25 (40%) votes on posts per day and don’t vote for your own posts. If you do this you will never experience a problem with our Voting CSI.

3. CLUB STATUS

We are all familiar with club status and the importance thereof on Steemit. I only want to highlight three factors.

1. The more we power up the more we help with the growth of STEEM
2. The more we power up the more we grow our SP
3. Club status will help you get booming or curator support

4. RULES

Another problem is that Steemians don’t follow all the rules of a contest.
Why put in all the effort to enter a contest but you don’t apply all the rules?

In Steemit your lottery ticket is your entry to a contest. The difference is that you can be under 18 years BUT you have to comply with the rules.

Count the rules if they are not numbered!

Tick the rule if you have complied with it

Make sure you have ticked ALL the rules

I want to urge Steemians who launch contests to mark their rules with numbers and not with bullet points. This makes it so much easier for Steemians to follow.

5. THE MOST IMPORTANT NUMBER

I don't think this is one day that pass without me reading a post about becoming a dolphin.

If you want to swim from Plankton to Dolphin, Orca, and to Whale all you need to do is to write, power up your earnings, and work to the number 5,000 in Steem Power (SP).

Once you have the first 5,000 you DON'T STOP. No, you keep on posting and keep on powering up until you reach the next 5,000. This you keep on doing until you have 500,000 SP.

Professionally, financially, and socially, this is the importance of numbers not just for your everyday life but also for your Steemit journey.
