Content writing is the capturing of creative ideas.

To be or not be? Or should I rather say, what to write or what not to write?

For most of us being an author was the last thing that crossed our minds before we joined Steemit. Little did we know that the road to becoming an author is paved for us on Steemit.

Yes, I know for some of us there are still thorns in the road as some find it so much easier to write than others.

Today I can share a little secret with you. It doesn’t matter what or who you are as an author there comes a time when you do run out of ideas, motivation, and creativity ideas.

It is at times like this that you need to close your eyes for 5 seconds and open them again.

Creative ideas…my understanding

A creative idea is when you put your mind or your imagination to work.

Does it sound simple enough? If not ask yourself how will you explain what is a creative idea to a child.

A creative idea is when you create something new.

Is this simple enough?

People make the mistake to think that we are born with creativity which will let to creative ideas. Wrong!

People think creative ideas come from artistic expression. Wrong!

Creative ideas for me are the rediscovering of what is around us, what we feel, what we see, what we hear, what we smell, and what we taste, and then putting it into action. To put paint to brush, fingers to a piano, and pen to paper.

The steps I take to obtain creative ideas

This is where I want to invite you to close your eyes for 5 seconds. And open.

Now write down what you see in front of you, the sounds you hear in your house, the smells that come from the kitchen, the taste of the cup of coffee next to you, and how it makes you feel.

• I put my senses into action
• I like to ask myself some questions
• I allow myself opportunities to think
• I create times when I am alone
• I read and form ideas
• I observe what is happening around me
• I make notes and
• I let reality speak to me

There is never a moment in our lives when we don’t have anything happening. All we need to do is to become aware of it and put it into writing.

This afternoon when I fetched my stepson from school I was sitting in my car just staring out of the window. I picked up my phone and I took a photo.

I noticed the leaves falling from the trees, it is autumn, and winter is on its way.

I noticed a car with a registration number I don’t know. I wonder where they originate from. When did they move to my town? What made them move?

I noticed the bend in the road and I could help to think about Nicholas Sparks' novel “A Bend in the Road” in which he writes about the bitter turns of our lives.

I noticed that all three cars are white. I wonder what percentage of cars are white? Why are there so many white cars? There must be a very good reason for it.

I noticed a child waiting all alone. Is the parent running late? Does the child know that it is a school rule that no child is allowed to wait outside the school gates? What will happen if a stranger stops and force the child into his car?

I noticed another mom sitting in her car waiting for her child. What makes us good parents? Is sitting in the hot sun waiting for our children part of being a good parent? Where will we draw the line when it comes to our children?

I might have a vivid imagination or might not have one. The moment is what is creating a story for me to tell. I just need to get home to start writing.

Is the creative idea the most important part of producing content on the Steemit platform?

J. R. R. Tolkien, author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings once wrote;

"One does not write such a story from the leaves of trees yet to be observed, nor by the means of botany and soil science; but it grows like a seed in the dark from the foliage of the mind: from all that has been seen or thought or read, long forgotten, down into the depths. Doubtless there is much to choose from, as with a gardener: what one throws on one’s personal compost heap."

Truer words that this you cannot get. No matter how smart your creative idea might be if you don’t give them compost, let them grow and harvest them they will be of no good to you.

The most important factor for me is what you do with these creative ideas. How you put them into action and write a fantastic post.

Which Steemian is the most dominant for creating content?

Without a doubt the answer is @disconnect. He might not be the original content creator but through his DAILY posts, he connects ALL Steemians and contests authors.

It is directly through him that hundreds of posts are written each week.

After all... this is how I found this contest.

I invite the following Steemians;

Thanks for inviting me! As you know, I am not a creative writer but mostly work in the travel niche. I can't even imagine thinking of blog plots while sitting in a car and then making them complete stunners!

Like I've said, maybe I am a bit of a dreamer. (•ิ‿•ิ)
As for not being a creative writer... you are not doing badly at all!

Thanks for the visit and the engagement! ☕

I would have said much more, but I have not yet fully recovered from my fever and am still feeling too weak, so I am spending most of my time in bed. I only said what was truthful and in the bare minimum of words, without much ado. So as we say in our local language, Konkani, "What I said in a few words is more than a full book of praises."

Reading your similar posts, my crazy thoughts start running around in my head. They want to break out, but... The need for office work kills these thoughts of my creativity. Work holds me like a shackle and says - I won't let you go.

Awh! All work is no fun my friend!
Hopefully you will have some time this weekend to let those thoughts escape a bit.
I will be on the lookout for them. (•ิ‿•ิ)
