How to write quality content.jpg

Is success on Steemit your aim?
Let me show you the light
It's all about promote what you write.

Write, read, write, edit and write
This is the key to a writer's success
We all know English will do the best
And don't forget to justify your text!

Original it has to be, they say
So don't be a clone, a copy cat or use AI
Don't forget to add a dose of creativity
If you write your quality content.

Be unique and
If you need a helping hand
Don't hesitate to seek.

'A picture is worth a thousand words'
And so does a freewriter's prompt
Contests show you the way
There's plenty of choice on this platform.

Amidst all efforts
Remember to use the right tags
Next all you need is a bunch of luck
Be persistent, don't give up.

And if
You want success keeping you company
Don't forget to promote on social media
Like X

The writer.jpg

How to be a good writer, write something that people love to read or... Is you being here all about how to write quality content? Good content in the eyes of the one you are writing for? Step one: Ask yourself what do I want.

Are you that writer with ideas, a niche, a muze that inspires or do you feel the urge to keep typing words without thinking first? You will be the one who writes easily and all you have to do is to edit, edit, edit and make what you wrote, that piece of text look better.
If it comes to Steemit the options may be limited but it's possible to make your text look good, to create some harmony to look at which is important for the reader! Ugly, not fitting pictures to what is written - including links - distract from the written word which is fine if you test something, write a comic or make the next boring PowerPoint.

Let's be fair no one 'brightens up' a CV with pictures to make it an 'easier', more friendly or creative read.

How to write if you are not a writer

if you joined Steemit for different reasons, to communicate, make friends, learn about the lifestyles of others or because you need extra money and hope writing here generates the desired income?
Once you know the alphabet, know #howto write you can learn to write better and deliver that good (looking) content on a golden plate but it's not said you will be read.

Writing skills.jpg

Practice is the key!

Write, write, and write. Write without thinking, write like you talk when you are rambling on, write like talking to a friend. Write like pouring your heart out, how you shout to the enemy, cry in despair. Write down what you really love to share with your diary if you had one and were 200% sure not a single soul has ever access to it.

Tip: Start freewriting!
Use a prompt (word, sentence or photo) and write about it. Sit down and write! No storyline is needed, write what you think and feel even if this means you write down: My mind is as empty as this sheet and I don't know what to write about or I wish that annoying dog outside stopped barking!
Set a timer, write for 5 or 10 minutes daily without a break, be concentrated and do not care about mistakes or what your text looks like. It is about practising about learning how to write under all circumstances. What you wrote can be posted at the freewriters no one will judge you, or you use it for something else (the diary game, a story, be creative).

You wrote something, congratulations!
Now it's time to read. To read what you wrote and to edit. Know editing takes time. It takes me three times longer than writing! I read what I wrote at least 6 times and always once out loud. I delete text, rewrite what I don't like and add extra lines.
Check your spelling! Try to avoid writing mistakes, especially in the first sentences! So read, check a dictionary, and read after 1 hour again before you post!
Steem for Bangladesh has some pinned articles which can help you (see @ripon0630 and his article).

I add facts in my stories next to a part of my soul, my own life story. If you take the time to read me you might discover my storyline, my niche, the real me.
Where are the facts if it comes to the fable Hairstyles which is built around two prompts namely 'hairstyles' and the photo? Can you find it? Hint: It is where the ostrich and emu from origin live.

Edit.jpg

Edit

Did you read what you wrote? Do you like it? If this was written by someone else would you consider it interesting or ignore it?

Steemit wants users to justify posts. So do it. Personally, I don't think the content looks better but it can be it's because I am a mobile phone user only.

Justifying written art, for example this awesome poem written by @blackmedschn, does not make text look better to me or easy to read. More important is to give the well deserved upvote because we can learn from these writers.

Justifying is what #Steemit prefers, I assume, to create conformity if it comes to the layout.

Title.jpg

A catching Title

A good title is important but if you join contests you can forget about that most of the times. Your post will be one out of hundreds exactly the same entries. How to make the difference, be original, is an unsolved puzzle.
Try to find a way to make a 'clickbait' out of your entry if not on Steemit try so on social media. The title is the last thing I break my brains over.

Note: Please, do read the given title and do not simply copy-paste it with the included typos!

Audience.jpg

Who do you write for?

It's fine if it is for you, it should be for you in the first place to keep writing. To my opinion, each writer has its readers so why not you.
What is more important is the level of language. How many people will understand you if you use academic words? Will the average reader understand your message? This platform is not for academics only and texts like these are frequently seen as boring.

Tags connect.jpg

Will you be read?

There are two things you need which are: using the right tags and investing in contacts.

A method to be read by more people is by promoting yourself, your content and Steemit! There's no publisher around doing this for you. It's all about doing it yourself.
And if you promote yourself (on X or wherever you want to) it won't harm if you do the same for someone else.

Read, upvote and comment fellow writers!
A comment may be long or short but show you read, are interested or baffled. Try to connect.

As an introvert, I know how difficult that can be but it can be learned and indeed reading others is very time-consuming but what a writer needs to do most is to read. Learn from what you like to read, what you dislike and why and find your niche.

Commenting is a good method to practice your writing skills. By commenting I mean writing what you think, feel about what you just read.
A comment that says: "You wrote: ..... and next cites parts of the text as a proof it's read is not a comment but a trick and won't help you to improve your writing skills or connect.

Promote yourself wherever it feels good for you. Share what you are proud of. I am not fond of social media but I dusted off my old X account and use it to promote what I write on his platform just like I used it years ago to promote Steemit. Not many might read me but to be successful you only need to bump into that one special person and... to be lucky.

If it comes to 'quality', good content there is no definition for it. Good is just like beauty in the eye of the beholder. One text can be awesome to you while it drives me nuts. I am a reader, I do not need pictures to make a story look better. I ignore them.
I read a lot and can see the good, the great, awesome text, the potential of the writer in what looks chaotic or is not edited at all.
Is quality content if it comes to the written word really asked? I have mixed feelings about this statement since terrible spelling receives high upvotes. I can only conclude it is about the layout, which community and contest you join and the club you are in.
Luck is needed, meeting the right fish if you swim in an ocean where you are a stranger, where you feel lost, you can be eaten by dolphins and orcas and perhaps will be rescued by a whale.

There are Steemians who generate a great (extra) income on this platform. I am not one of them. From the moment I started I did my stinking best and tried to invest in others. Before the split of Steemit, I was in the top 3 of best commenters. Did it bring me anything? If it comes to upvotes the answer is no although, today I still receive upvotes from a handful of people who automatically upvote me.
After a break of 11 months, I started on Steemit again, I started writing again. To me, writing is a need. I wake up with stories. I write while I sleep or my head fills with ideas.
I am never out of 'prompts' and neither are you if you read, discuss, join contests, especially if it comes to the Q&As even the storyline is written for you.

If you want to be read be original. Don't use words you do not know the meaning of. Make people remember you for what you write, not your bad grammar or the misinformation you spread.
If you want to be read connect, reach out, read and upvote. But above all be proud of what you wrote and always ask: Is this what I like to read in my spare time and how can I trigger and improve myself.

Upvoted. Thank You for sending some of your rewards to @null. It will make Steem stronger.

An excellent text that you have given us @wakeupkitty. Practically, it is a guide on how to behave if you want to write everywhere, but significantly here on the platform.
Since I arrived I've always wondered, why contests ask all participants to put the same title as the contest. At the same time, they tell you that your content must be original. I don't know, it seems a bit confusing to me. how can my original text have to have another title that doesn't fit my story?
I've wanted to ask these questions for a long time.
To write a good text, apart from writing a lot as a practice, you have to read a lot. That's what I'm doing, reading and writing to improve.
I loved your post.

Thank you for your comment and most of all letting me know that I am not the only one who questions ...

Many entries, advices are the same but if it comes to practising it's the opposite.

As you can see I changed the title, it's something I did with my entry 'Do you want to be an SR' as well.

I'm not going to write 'contest' since my post is not a contest but an entry to a contest.

The only advice I can give you is this:
Write what you like to write, what feels good to you. It is your article, your name is attached to it.
If we all write the same what's the point of joining?

I noticed most of what I like to write is not rewarded, same if it comes to posting in certain communities. This doesn't mean I give up on writing and posting there.

Most likely this entry will not be accepted but I don't care.

Since Steemit once us to promote the platform I want to be honest about how or what is asked and a user can expect. This is the message a newb might like to read or someone who needs help if it comes to writing.

No matter if my entry is accepted, you read it and that means a lot to me. Thanks for making my long day of writing and editing a good one.

Happy writing.

Indeed this is an awesome advice, your poem have said it all. I have learnt this from your post "to be a good writer, you must be a good reader., to learn how to write well you must learn to comment on peoples post". This is indeed deep. You are a good writer and that is evidence on your quality comment you have always made on my posts. Thank you for your invite, I hope to send in mine soon. I wish you success in this contest.

I hope to read you!

I noticed I hardly receive notifications and my posts and comments disappear!

Each one of my posts shows 0 (zero) comments.

Everything I edit isn't shown. Do you notice that too?

There's a huge 🪲 around here!

It's hard to promote #steemit this way ☹️

I try to stop by to check on you.
All the best and thanks for your compliment!

I think the issue is a network problem it will be restored once the network is okay. I only noticed that when my network is bad.

 10 months ago (edited)

That's what I thought but it's a Steemit issue. See the comments underneath my post "Do you dream of being an SR" @wakeupkitty.pal

I still have a post shown I deleted days ago plus some I edited but did not change. It will take way more time before I can hit the post button.
🍀❤️

Perhaps you are interested in being a freewriter? I think you are great at it.

Could it be that they are trying to update the site? I am not experiencing same here. That shouldn't discourage you from posting dear. Okay thanks for sharing the link. I will check it out.

I don't know if that's the reason. @ patjewell and many others experience it.

I think from my end this what i am experience "Please @o1eh I think it used to be when a post is upvoted like this message that was sent to me it will reflect a certain steem amount that was upvoted. I have received this same message in three of my posts including this one but it doesn't seem to show the upvoted amount. What could be the problem?' I just sent this to one of the curators. A certain will upvote my posts and it will still show 0. something without reflecting the steem amount that was upvoted.

We all have the same issues, including comments not showing, posting content and next it disappears. With me all uovotes and notifications underneath posts are '0' too. Sometimes theynshow if zi upvotebagain or leave another comment.
This all has nothing to do with a bad internet connection.

when a post is upvoted like this message that was sent to me it will reflect a certain steem amount that was upvoted. I have received this same message in three of my posts including this one but it doesn't seem to show the upvoted amount

Don't worry, your post has been voted on and you will be rewarded. Unfortunately, Steemit currently has serious problems with the interface and the information we see is irrelevant.

You are a great teacher, bravo!!!
The Funny thing is, I just made a post, then came to read this, that was when I realized I forgot to to justify my work. Will make that correction when I find my post, as it seem to have disappear😁

It's the same overhere. You need twice as much time and not make mistakes!

I edited one post 5 times by now and it shows the same. Comments, upvotes, it all disappears.

I'll see if I can find/read your post later.

Great you joined. I hope the little ones are fine.

Sorry, for the lack of support of the community. It was posted before I was ready.

I did send 10 Steem to the charity you asked for (see proof in my comment line).

It would be great if the Steemit-new-layout team would give the option to set benefit fees with the option 'edit' as well.
