Hello everyone, hope you all are doing good? I'm back with the Part 2 and Final Part of this amazing series, Understanding Blockchain Technology in the Healthcare Industry. If you haven't read the Part 1, I strongly suggest you that by clicking here. In today's article, I will be looking at challenges to the adoption of blockchain in the health care industry.

There are two major challenges which are currently been faced for blockchain technology to be adopted in the health care industry and they are;

  • Internet Source & Patients literacy

  • Scalability

Internet Source & Patients Literacy: In developing countries, the adoption of blockchain technology in the health care industry might be difficult to achieve, as not every area/place have the accessibility to internet service and without internet service, blockchain technology can not operate in such places.

Also some patients in the developing country don't have the literacy to operate the internet, hence, hinders the adoption of blockchain technology in those areas.

Scalability: The health care industry is a very huge industry and the level of scalability might become an issue, as blockchain technology might not be able to operate adequately. Having the entire health care records of an entire country on blockchain might be impossible, for now. Although, I guess in the nearest future it will be possible but for now, it is not.

Blockchain Health Care Products

There are already some few amazing blockchain products in the health care industry but I will be giving you guys the best 3 blockchain healthcare products to me and they are;

  • MedicalChain

  • ConnectingCare

  • Blockpharma

MedicalChain: This is a blockchain health care decentralized platform that helps to electronically record and maintain patients' health data. This product also helps to secure, transfer and use patients' health data to help know their health condition better. It even has it's very own coin called MTN which worth about $0.007471 as at the moment of writing this article.

ConnectingCare: This awesome blockchain health care product helps to keep track of patients health condition and situation/progress after they have left the hospital. It has the summary of patient's medical record which it can share to nearby hospitals if needs may arise.

Blockpharma: This is currently my favorite blockchain health care product as it helps track the sales of drugs, in order to reduce or stop counterfeiting of drugs. The product tracks drugs back to their place of production, in order to help identify if a drug is counterfeit or authentic.

Conclusion

Integrating blockchain technology in the health care industry will have great positive impact on the general well-being of everyone across the world, as the production of fake drugs will reduce or stop completely, better research database for health personnel, patients' record will be on the blockchains which will make it accessible at anywhere and that's good news for both patients and health personnel as it will greatly help health personnel get up to speed with the patients health condition.

This is a tool that started with a database and today we have it with Blockchain technology that can cover much more people and the important thing is that it is of benefit that it is available from any device for the convenience of the doctor and patient.
thank you for informing

Hi @mensoki, I am of the opinion that, the healthcare industry really needs the presence of a blockchain. The industry will be able to do so much more and meet more needs when that happens.
