Trip to Couce - Taberna da Avó - Valongo | Portugal
Continuing the previous post, in which despite the title, as you may have noticed, it was not possible to make a visit to the village itself as access was closed to any and all people who do not reside there, and after having advanced along the road towards in Gondomar, the granite ruins of an old mill that was on the bank of the river, camouflaged by vegetation, were already behind.
I had not traveled these paths for a long time, and I became aware of the time when I went down the slope to take some pictures by the river, taking advantage of the calm waters to take advantage of the reflection and capture the nuances of the colors and contrasts of that vegetation, and it is when I turn back to go up again towards the trail that I face a place that was familiar to me, but that due to the time interval, for the moment it was not immediately evident that it was the old grandmother's tavern, point meeting point for hikers and for those who traversed those trails with off-road vehicles.
I spent some beautiful weekend afternoons there, in the summer, on the stone tables by the river, under the branches of the grapes, or inside by the wood oven in the winter.
But what beautiful moments that will not be repeated, because in the meantime the former owners, people already at an advanced age ended up dying and I am not aware that anyone has continued the business.
The dog trapped at the entrance to the tavern access indicates that the place is inhabited, but I don't know if it is still possible to eat those snacks and drink that homemade wine, and unfortunately this is not the ideal time to find out, but one day, when everything starts to normalize, I will go back to clarify this doubt.
The stories that took place in that space are immense, memories of events, memories of people and this is what we are made of, memories and remembering is living.
As I am in the middle of the forest, something that will accompany this tour, will be the various landmarks that I was able to capture, in each corner a new record, a new world, despite not having used that inverted lens technique, which allows us to visualize on a larger scale with optimized detail, it was possible to make still interesting records despite a greater distance from the object.
It's amazing how macros with their blurred background can result in such different images full of contrasts and textures especially with this kind of subjects.
In the world of photography, especially macro photography, there is a universe of things available to everyone, enabling totally different and original approaches.
That´s all for today :)
See you soon
Thank you for watching :)
