The healthy traditional steam cooking

As I said last week, Steaming is one of the cooking methods that our ancestors have taught us. Since it does not add oil, this cooking method is considered a healthy one. The dishes prepared this way are delicious and healthy. If you include steamed foods in your daily diet, you will not get problems like cancer, heart disease, weight gain, digestive problems, and high blood cholesterol.

The easy "Steamed Cake" is one of the fundamental cake recipes that everyone should definitely learn. It is prepared using readily available basic ingredients typically found in the kitchen and refrigerator—such as flour, baking powder, eggs, sugar, oil, and milk. This cake is highly versatile and adaptable; it can be made as a simple snack cake or as a layered cake.

Nutrition facts of All-purpose flour (Maida)

All-purpose flour (Maida) is a refined wheat flour. It primarily provides carbohydrates and energy, but is low in fiber and vitamins. One cup (approximately 125 grams) of this flour contains roughly 455 calories, 13 grams of protein, 95 grams of carbohydrates, and a very small amount of fat.

  • Vitamins and Minerals: Unlike whole wheat flour, it loses most of its nutrients during processing. However, iron and B-vitamins are added to many fortified flour varieties.
Nutrition facts of Wheat flour

Wheat's nutritional profile demonstrates that its benefits extend far beyond merely providing basic energy. Whole wheat contains significantly higher levels of nutrients compared to refined wheat products. Its bran provides fiber and B vitamins, while its germ supplies healthy fats, Vitamin E, and additional minerals essential for optimal health.

  • Whole wheat benefits heart health through its fiber content, which helps reduce LDL cholesterol levels. Studies indicate that consuming whole grains, such as wheat, lowers the risk of heart disease by up to 30%. The magnesium found in wheat aids in maintaining healthy blood pressure control.

  • The benefits of wheat grains include promoting regular bowel movements and supporting beneficial gut bacteria. Insoluble fiber adds bulk to the stool, while soluble fiber nourishes healthy gut bacteria, thereby improving overall digestive function.

Nutrition facts of Milk

The milk contains approximately 87% water. The remaining 13% consists of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals. To produce lower-fat varieties, processing techniques remove the fat: the "reduced-fat" variety contains 2% milk fat, the "low-fat" variety contains 1% milk fat, and the "fat-free" or "skim" variety contains virtually no milk fat. Since cows are often pregnant when they are being milked, the milk contains hormones such as Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1), estrogens, and progestins. To increase milk production, some cows are administered additional hormones.

Nutrition facts of Egg

Eggs have long been a significant contributor to the nutritional quality of our diet. Not only do eggs contain the highest quality protein available, but they also possess nearly all the essential vitamins and minerals required by humans. In fact, egg protein is of such high quality that it is used as a standard against which other proteins are compared. Eggs possess a biological value of 93.7% (the efficiency with which protein is utilized for growth). Comparable values stand at 84.5% for milk, 76% for fish, and 74.3% for beef. Eggs are truly the best protein source money can buy, and they also contain other valuable vitamins and minerals.

Steamed Cake

STEP 1:

Crack two eggs into a large bowl and beat them thoroughly. Then, add the sugar and beat the mixture vigorously once again. While beating, ensure you do so rapidly and exclusively in a clockwise direction; this technique helps ensure that the resulting cake turns out soft.
