This steamed noodle dish is quite popular in different parts of Bangladesh. However, it is especially seen in rural areas on winter mornings.

Rice Noodles: This is a very popular dish among health conscious people in our country. This dish is light and easy to digest, so it is also my favorite breakfast.

Chui Pitha or (Hand-cut Semai): This rice flour is made into small noodles with the help of the palm of the hand and cooked by steaming or soaking in milk. This Chui Pitha is one of my favorite dishes. Because my childhood memories are associated with this pitha. And I am very fond of that pitha.

The process of making (Step-by-Step) Idiyappam (Rice Noodles)"

Step 01

36462.jpg36463.jpg
36464.jpg36465.jpg

✔ I mix 3 cups of rice flour in a bowl with a little salt and a little soybean oil. Now I add lukewarm water little by little. I knead it with my hands to make a soft and smooth dough or dough, and let it rest for a while.

Step 02

36473.jpg36475.jpg36476.jpg

36477.jpg

✔ I didn't have an Idiappam making machine at home, so I used a syringe to make Idiappam. Then I greased the inside of the syringe with a little oil so that the yeast wouldn't stick. Now I filled the syringe with the yeast.

I spread a thin cotton cloth on a steamer plate. Now I rolled the syringe and spread it like noodles on the plate like a net.

Step 03

36571.jpg36569.jpg

36567.jpg

✔ Now I put a pan on the stove and let it boil with water. After a while, when the water started boiling, I placed the steamer plate on top and covered it with a lid. Then I let the idiyappam steam for 15 minutes on medium heat.

Step 04

36488.jpg36491.jpg

36500.jpg

✔ The idiyappams were steamed for 15 minutes. I opened the lid and touched them with my hand to check the smell to see if they were cooked. When I felt the idiyappams were cooked, I immediately took them out of the pot and inverted them on a plate. I cooked all the idiyappams in the same way and placed them on the plate.

Step 05
36413.jpg36414.jpg

36415.jpg

✔ At this stage, I took a whole coconut, cut it into two pieces, and scooped out half of it with a coconut scoop.

Step 06
36503.jpg36505.jpg
36506.jpg36507.jpg

36510.jpg

✔ I now arranged these hot Idiappams beautifully on a plate. Now I sprinkled a generous amount of coconut flakes and sugar on these Idiappams. And voila, finally a very delicious Idiappam was made!
