Ciao a tutti amici e amiche di Italy e di Steemit.
Ci risiamo con il solito FUD sui computer quantistici: di nuovo spunta la notizia che entro il 2029 potrebbero essere capaci di hackerare Bitcoin in pochi minuti. (Ref.)
Tutto è partito da Google, che ha comunicato di voler migrare tutta la sua infrastruttura a crittografia “post-quantum” prima che arrivi quel giorno, e subito il mondo crypto è impazzito per l’ennesima minaccia apocalittica. (Ref.)
In realtà, ad oggi, non esiste ancora un computer quantistico abbastanza potente da rompere la crittografia reale, quella che protegge wallet, transazioni e sistemi bancari.
Google, semplicemente, sta iniziando a prepararsi, aggiornando i protocolli e pianificando una migrazione sicura, per non dover correre ai ripari quando sarà troppo tardi.
E il “timeline 2029” non è un conto alla rovescia per la fine di Bitcoin, ma un promemoria per ricordarci che la tecnologia sta avanzando e bisogna anticiparla.
Il punto è che il rischio quantum riguarda tutti, non solo il mondo crypto!
Anche i sistemi tradizionali come banche e governi, subiranno gli stessi problemi, ma se ne discute poco.
La verità è che, dalle email ai server di hosting, dalle comunicazioni governative al nostro home banking, tutto si basa su una crittografia che, un giorno, potrebbe diventare vulnerabile.
Comunque questo scenario non è imminente, anche se è reale e va preso sul serio.
Secondo me, però, non ha senso focalizzarci soltanto su “Bitcoin vs quantum” ma “quantum vs tutta la crittografia moderna”.
E, per fortuna, la soluzione è già in corso: si stanno sviluppando nuovi algoritmi resistenti ai computer quantistici, la cosiddetta Post-Quantum Cryptography, che un giorno ci proteggerà quando i computer quantistici diventeranno veramente potenti.
Quindi sì, il quantum è un tema da monitorare, ma non è il drago nero pronto a divorare il nostro portafoglio stanotte. Per ora possiamo continuare a respirare, aggiornare le password e osservare da vicino questo futuro che arriva a grandi passi, ricordandoci che il problema riguarderà, non solo Bitcoin, ma l’intero mondo digitale.

Here we go again with the usual FUD about quantum computers: once more, the news pops up that by 2029 they could be capable of hacking Bitcoin in just a few minutes. (Ref.)
It all started with Google, which announced it plans to migrate its entire infrastructure to “post-quantum” cryptography before that day comes and immediately the crypto world went crazy over yet another apocalyptic threat. (Ref.)
In reality, as of today, there is still no quantum computer powerful enough to break real-world cryptography, the kind that protects wallets, transactions, and banking systems.
Google is simply starting to prepare, updating protocols and planning a safe migration so it won’t have to rush when it’s too late.
And the “2029 timeline” isn’t a countdown to Bitcoin’s end, but a reminder that technology is evolving and needs to be anticipated.
The point is that the quantum risk affects everyone, not just the crypto world.
Traditional systems like banks and governments will face the same issues, yet it’s talked about far less.
The truth is that, from emails to hosting servers, from government communications to our home banking, everything relies on cryptography that could one day become vulnerable.
This scenario isn’t imminent, but it is real and should be taken seriously.
In my opinion, it doesn’t make sense to focus only on “Bitcoin vs quantum”, but rather on “quantum vs all modern cryptography.”
And fortunately, the solution is already in progress: new algorithms resistant to quantum computers are being developed the so-called Post-Quantum Cryptography, which will protect us when these machines become truly powerful.
So yes, quantum is something to keep an eye on, but it’s not the dark dragon ready to devour your wallet tonight.
For now, we can keep breathing, update our passwords, and watch this fast-approaching future closely, remembering that when this becomes a real issue, it won’t just affect Bitcoin… but the entire digital world.
