Wish Tree Tradition - Club100steemCreated with Sketch.

Hi Dear Friends :) Wish Trees have an important place in Turkish Culture and I will tell you about this tradition that I love very much. There was a wish tree at an event I attended and I wrote my wish on a piece of paper and hung it up. In fact, cloth-like things are tied to wish trees, not paper.

Why do we say our wishes to the tree? As in most societies, the tree represents wisdom and the bond between the sky and the earth. The energy of the tree is believed and hugging it is seen as an exchange of energy. I've been a fan of trees since I was a kid :) I love climbing trees, hugging them, sitting in their shade and watching them. These are very good for my soul :)

Tying cloth on trees and making wishes is a belief ritual based on Shamanism.
Therefore, it can be said that the holiness attributed to the tree is rooted in the effects of Shamanism.

When the Turks were in Central Asia, they had temples made of stone and including trees. They used to make wishes in these high places to show their respect to the Tengri. Wish trees are originally high places. People go to them especially only to make wishes.

Usually, threads or cloth are tied. In addition, these glands are colorful. The reason for this is diversity, vitality, and differences. May the trees whose roots are deep in the ground and whose branches soar in the sky spread our wishes to the universe with their energy :))

Large and old trees standing alone in the field are preferred. They are usually sycamore, beech and juniper trees. I think these traditions are good for the soul as long as they do not harm the tree and do not pollute the environment. Do you have such traditions?

Thank you for visiting my post 💜

Beautiful post and of course beautiful tradition. I think many people even without expecting their wish to come true still try to leave their trace and tie a cloth. At the end looks nice :)

Thank you for your nice words :) I totally agree with you, the wishes are endless and while wishing for one, eyes are looking for cloth for the next wishes :D

What a beautiful publication my friend. I did not know this unique Turkish tradition, your experience is very nice, thanks for sharing it!

I like both writing about traditions and reading about them. I'm happy to hear that you liked my post, thank you :)

We attract what we want 😉 I hope those dreams come true, I think that as long as it is done with good will and they do no harm because we do not believe in traditions, many of us should wish and fulfill our dreams, and nothing more beautiful than giving it to nature so that help!

Greetings and blessings.

Thank you my friend :) I hope all of our goodwill wishes come true. I think it is innocent and meaningful to ask from nature or to make our wishes through nature :) Greetings :)

A very healthy way to make wishes!

Greetings, I really enjoyed reading.

Cheers!

A beautiful tradition: down-to-earth (tree) and unifying (many wishes will be similar and are weightier together)...

Eine schöne Tradition: bodenständig (Baum) und vereinend (viele Wünsche werden sich ähneln und sind zusammen gewichtiger)...

Hello friend @serap
What a beautiful tradition they have in Turkey. I loved reading and learning about her. In Venezuela we don't have that tradition but I would like to adopt it because I think it would be beautiful to be able to make a wish or several wishes to a big tree. I also believe that the tree has a connection between heaven and earth.
Greetings and blessings 🙏🌸💚

Hi my friend, I am very happy that you like our tradition and even want to adopt it :) It's nice to be able to reach Venezuela from here and get your attention. Maybe you will make the first wish tree in your country ;) It will be a much more special feeling for you as you think that trees have a connection between heaven and earth. I definitely believe in the energy and mystery of trees. Greetings :)
