Before announcing World Of Xpilar's Top Commenters, here's a quick update from me... I've been a lot quieter than you're probably used to and am doing my best to keep on top of the numerous Fantasy Football contests I'm running. As many of you know, I've also been busy working on a new Steemit front-end and doing plenty of coding to help move the Steemit platform forwards.
Unfortunately, this has meant that I haven't had much of an opportunity to blog "properly" for a while. Although I've had plenty of ideas for posts, I don't want to rush and publish something just for the sake of it. Hopefully, this will change next week once I start to get 2 days per week to myself again (unless the-mrs-gorilla insists upon me doing the endless number of jobs that she wants me to do).
This ramble is nearing the point of warranting its own post so let's get back on topic...
King / Queen Commenters
Once again @petface retains the crown of Queen commenter having continued to engage heavily with the World Of Xpilar community - it's possible that she's even broken some non-existent commenting records this time around and I feel that it's only a matter of time before she crashes the internet.
It's also a repeat of my last update with @ronthroop and @serap retaining their crowns of top commenters to complete the top 3.
I made an exception last week and introduced a 4th King / Queen and will do the same again this time around. @o1eh had dropped down slightly due to a bout of Coronavirus and my bias of really appreciating the work that he's been doing within World Of Xpilar means that he also retains his crown for another 2 weeks - I'm glad to hear that you're better now 😷

I've looked long and hard at the comments for our team of 💬 Top Commenters with a view to expanding the group and there are a couple of new names knocking at the door. I know that I said the same thing in my last update but the chasing group is different this time than it was last time so our list won't be changing for another 2 weeks.

Thank you for leaving me the title👑. Coronavirus🤒 really didn't allow me to spend as much time on Steemit as I would have liked. I spent most of my time reading posts👀 to select them for the magazine. But now I'm healthy💪, I have a lot of ideas and a desire to do something.
By the way, there are nice changes in our community. When I read posts, now very often there are comments under them, and not just "Great post", but meaningful comments. Often in these comments you can find additional information that further complements the post itself. I am convinced that this is your merit🏅.
That's very kind of you to say so. I've learnt a lot in the comments and there's often more value within them than within the posts themselves. Sometimes, I think it would be nice if people revisit a post after all of the comments have been received as there's often some very interesting discussion that might get missed if you're the first person there.

It's true. It is a pity that Steemit has no bookmarks. This may allow you to quickly find the post you want to view for new comments. After seven days, these bookmarks could be deleted automatically. That would be convenient. But there is a function of bookmarks in the browser itself, but it is not so convenient, because these bookmarks are quickly accumulated a lot.
I wonder if with my new found coding skills I could write something which highlights older posts (5-6 days old) that have a lot of discussion from a variety of people. Another idea to add to the pile 🙂
It's great that you think so. It may be worthwhile to focus not on the number of comments, but on the number of words in the comments (in total), if possible. Even if one or two comments appear under the post, but larger than the post itself, these comments are likely to be interesting to read.
I can use the same criteria that I use for the top commenters 🙂 I've created a profile and written a script to assess the posts based upon certain tags (e.g. the World of Xpilar community tag) and ranks them based upon the number and length of each comment within a minimum set of boundaries.
It also only selects posts that are between 4 and 6 days old for them to be old enough to be low on the page and not so old that the payout's been missed.
I've pretty much written it (it generates the post content) - all I need to do now is generate a post title, the tags, do a calculation on when the profile last posted to that community and then get is to "broadcast" the post.
It's gonna be cool. @icymi - "In Case You Missed It" 🙂
Hopefully it will complement you Blogosphere Magazine (which will appear in my list) and I can also use it for tags across the whole of Steemit. So I can search for "football" and "soccer" and add in other tags, merge the lists together to get the top football posts - I could do this for sport, movies, travel... the deciding factor being that the post has received comments.
This is a great script👍! Now you can make such lists for any category. This is a cool idea. Alternatively, you can make lists for each community using the community tag.

I like your ideas and the amount of those ideas. With you, Steemit becomes more interesting.
Thank you - I've written 2 examples already. The one I've posted is a compilation of football / soccer related tags which I'll post in World of Football and I've also written one for World Of Xpilar which I'll post later today. Because it takes posts that are "older" and over a 2 day period, it's designed to have to wait at least 2 days before posting in the same community.
I'm quite proud of it - it took most of the day yesterday to write the script. It doesn't require human intervention (although I'm checking the posts before they're posted for now) and upvotes all of the posts that are in the list.
It also provides a 20% beneficiary to whichever community's being posted in so hopefully the communities will support it too.

Thank you ever so much @the-gorilla I was actually anticipating the latest update on the Top Commenters who I simply love being one of. I do like the thumbnail image featuring the speech bubble emoji with the crown on. It looks cute but mighty. I am also pleased to see your new seasonal avatar. I miss seeing more of your witty comments and interesting posts here in the WORLD OF XPILAR but you certainly got your priorities right and keep yourself busy, hopefully not too busy with the new front-end of the platform. I am thrilled that I am actually writing history here by being such an active commenter. I promise not to crash the internet. If I could do anything to it it would be to make high speed Wi-Fi free and accessible to everybody. I also admit that I quite enjoy reading about myself and my achievements. I am aware that I might sound like a real queen. I am glad to hear that @o1eh is back on track as I love his devoutness to the community and how much he cares not only about his own performance here but about everybody else's and the support and attention they receive. I would actually like to nominate @apnigrich for the Top Commenters dream team. He is an active user who never misses an opportunity to comment. He has good quality content and he is interested in what others have to say be it in their posts or comments. Cheers and have a fabulous evening.

I miss writing content too although from next week, I'll have Tuesdays and Thursdays to myself (the-baby and the-toddler are both at nursery all day and the-mrs is back at work) so I can do what I want 🥳 Which for the first couple of times, will probably be doing something incredibly lazy and unproductive!

Spending some time enjoying peace and quiet sounds fantastic. We all need to relax and recharge our batteries. If I were you I would have popped down to the seafront to feed the seagulls. I find them fun as they are so noisy when they fight over food which they sometimes even catch in the air. Or maybe devote some time to another hobby? Whatever you choose to do you can always post about it here when you feel like. I will keep an eye out.
It is super windy over here in London. It started last night. This morning my olive tree potted in a cast-iron container was blown over. Hope it is better over there.
I hope so - I came quite close to including him this time and then looked back at the previous data and he wasn't in the top group. It's easier to get included when you spend most of your time in 1 community and I see a few people who comment a lot across lots of communities but not so much in WOX.
Tomorrow's a new start and I'm really looking forward to it. A whole day to myself, knowing that from 8:15am until 6pm, the time is mine and I won't be interrupted. I've not had this for 2 years and I have a long to-do list!
It's been windy here too although it doesn't sound like it's as bad here as it is there - at least not that I've noticed! We often get some good winds where we are blowing off the sea and over the South downs so perhaps I'm used to it now 🤷🏼♂️ I hope your olive tree is ok, the-toddler likes his olives 🙂
I totally agree with you. In the end of the day members need to decide where they feel best and prioritise this community. Then they will come to know more of its active Steemians and support their articles, take part in the initiatives and maybe even win a story or a photo contest or two. You can be a social, communities butterfly type of creature if that's what makes one happy but yes, here we are after more loyal WOX committed top commenters indeed.
This sounds awesome, treat yourself and enjoy every second of it, you deserve it. I can't remember when it was the last time when I had that much time to myself really. I am now a bit curious about what's on your to-do list.
Makes sense, it is more often windy at the seaside compared to over here. My olive tree survived without any broken branches. The-toddler-gorilla and I have a few favourite foods in common. Maybe he would love having an olive tree too. I bet it will thrive by the sea, one would say it will be a bit more similar to its preferred Mediterranean climate. Olive trees are very low-maintenance by the way. They just need regular, ideally daily watering in the growing season which is something that surprises many.
I used to post in multiple communities - World of football and Steem Sports mostly but the level of interaction often felt very shallow. Most of the comments were superficial and not indicative of somebody who'd read beyond the title. Then it was all about squishing mosquitos and then my own fantasy sports community before deciding to team up with World of Xpilar and help out here.
So, my day today... I cleaned the kitchen, did a lot of ironing, downloaded and sorted 2 months of photos, had a Sainsbury's delivery, realised that I forgot to check out my updated Sainsbury's delivery last night, placed a Sainsbury's order for tomorrow, wondered what I'll do with the 4 crates of beer that I'd put in my basked as a placeholder, wondered how I'd explain to the-mrs-gorilla that we have no food, just beer, wrote a Fantasy Football post, wrote a the-gorilla post 😲 And load of other productive stuff. I'm looking forward to Thursday now and my next day off 🙂
An olive tree might go quite well in my garden, especially if it can live in a pot. What kind of sun requirements does it have and what variety would you recommend (green olives for the-toddler please) 🙂 I'll have to make a note for the Garden Rescue team when they decide that my garden will make an ideal episode.
This sounds like an amazing day to yourself and you already had two of those. You are living the life out there. An olive tree can certainly live in a pot, you might need to replant it once it outgrows its pot but that’s about it really. It loves sunshine, the more the better. An olive tree also loves a sheltered position, against a hedge or a wall for instance. I would recommend Gordal Sevillano, Manzanilla or Nocellara Del Belice. You better get two olive trees actually. I personally love seeing them in pairs.

It is better to buy a laptop, but it is expensive. It is probably better to buy a used power supply.
Estoy planeando reemplazarla y venderla, no me darán mucho por ella por ser un modelo viejo, pero para hacer tareas sirve. Y reunir el resto del dinero. Algún día llegaré al monto necesario ☺️

Yo espero que una fuente de poder sea lo unico que necesite. No es una laptop, es una pc de escritorio amigo.
That should help to make it easier to fix - it could be as simple as the power button not being connected, the PSU needing replacing or even the fuse in the plug needing replacing. My betting would be one of those 3 things and hopefully it's nothing expensive 🙂

If the technician's replacing the power source, then he's probably tested everything else. I would be surprised if that doesn't repair it - computers tend to be quite good at making noises and letting you know what the problem is 🙂

You need more than 24 hours in a day for your wishes to come true at the same time :) You will continue to sacrifice one of these until those who wrote the code of the universe extend the duration of a day :))
I really do. I often think that if I could have a super power, it'd be the ability to pause time (and not age whilst time is paused). A bit like Hiro Nakamura from Heroes.
At least I get an extra hour 1 day of the year when the clocks go back. It's just a shame they take it back again later.
:)) There is an idiom that a given gift cannot be taken back. I mean, they shouldn't have taken your extra hour :D It would be a great superpower to live life a few times more. I didn't know the character you're talking about but I googled it and it looks interesting. I watched a movie called "About Time". The lead's father was using the pause time feature to read the books and it was great :)

As much as the scientific attractiveness of pausing time, the effect of exposure to pausing time on daily life can be interesting :)
There are so many things that I would do with such a super power - mostly good 🙂 Sleeping would definitely be at the top of my list!
