Curator Cat Says: It's Caturday... and it's PI DAY!
Hello fellow felines of Steemlandia, and greetings to the Hoomans, as well!
It's Saturday once more... and we all know what that means: It's CATURDAY, my favorite day of the week! So get out all those cute cat photos and share them with the world!

A Special KIND of Caturday!
Today is March 14th — or "3/14" as the date is written in many parts of the world — which means many people are also having fun with today being "Pi Day."
At least it means something if you're into numbers and math and all that!
That said, the Mom-Hooman is going to make an apple pie for dessert. Which is all good and fine, as long as she remembers to give me extra kitty treats!
When you're a cat, it's always a good time to clean!

It seems like the State of Steem and the State of the World is filled with fear and uncertainty, these days.
It can be easy to get caught up in the relentless seriousness of it all, and forget to simply enjoy the moments we have.
The sun still shines into our entryway and stairwell! Flowers are still beautiful. Hummingbirds still visit our feeder and provide me with free entertainment. People still love each other. Ice cream still tastes good. Sunsets are still spectacular. Soon the daffodils and tulips will bloom.
And I still enjoy chasing the Hooman's camera straps and other dangling objects!
Got the camera strap! You guys don't usually get to see all the "fail" photos we take...
Keeping Things in Perspective
Yes, the Corona Virus and COVID-19 is serious matter.
But in 2018, 1.5 million people died from Tuberculosis. Nobody talks about that. In fact, many people think humanity cured tuberculosis.
Almost 600,000 people die from Malaria every year, and have been for many decades.
If that sounds "too exotic" for you, 1.25 million people die as a result if diabetes, every year. Or 9.6 million die from cancer, every year.
The only thing about COVID-19 is that it is NEW and therefore unknown. We're familiar with the others I listed, but have become "desensitized" to their seriousness, and their massive fatality rates.
So, remember to enjoy life!
And enjoy your Caturday!

Hey! Thanks for the shoutout! I've been meaning to make a post to advertise the Caturday community, but I've been lazy and preoccupied with other things. I'm glad you did.
There are so many cat related communities. I can see people having a hard time deciding in which one to post their cat related posts. I'm glad some people have chosen this one.
The photos are really great in this post.
People are going crazy over that corona virus. The media are doing a great job of making people panic as usual. Someone told me the grocery stores were packed yesterday. It was hard to find parking spots, and there weren't many grocery carts available and the lines were very long at the cashiers.
As for the Steem situation, I'm hoping our community-elected witnesses will regain a majority, and we can do a hardfork that has protection against this kind of takeover. For one thing, accounts should have fewer witness votes than there are consensus witnesses.
Anyway, here's hoping that everything just gets better all around once all the FUD blows over.

The whole world is a bit crazy at the moment... maybe this will all end up serving as an invitation for people to reflect on what really matters in life. For all their greed, and all their money, the uber-billionaires will learn that everything they have accumulated can't buy them exemption from being struck by the corona virus. And we'll all develop stronger communities, because we have to help each other, because the central structures are failing us.
I hope the current "big" initiative on the table to simply uproot the entire community to a new home really comes to pass. We have a great community here, and I would really miss it, if it were gone.
