The Old Man and The Dog - The End
Edward was a Mexican American living in the project since the 80's. He lost his family at a very early age in an accident. After years in CPS and foster homes, he became an emotionless bio-hazard of man. Trigger-happy ruthless killing machine. Everybody in the project knew and feared him like the god of death.
After Nix died his brother, Caleb took the throne. Young-blood with no guilt or moral repercussions. Nix had an ideology. Like everybody knew him to be calculated and patient. He too was human, took faulty decisions, but he was never blood-hungry.
Initially, after his death, everything was quiet in a very long time for a while. Most of the hoodlum trash wiped themselves out. Nix was gone, D-Dawg killed and the rival gangs left immobile. It was like the golden days in the project.
But Caleb couldn’t let go the one thing. That fluffy, a dog killed his brother. So in his dark asylum, he plotted revenge. He did so many things to get that exact dog, I mean who does such a thing? Planning for months to kill a dog.
In that auspicious day, it was raining so hard. Ed was sick for a couple of days. Every now and then, my mom went to check on him which she started doing after the incident. She went to check if he needed anything. His pills for diabetes were out. So Mom took his prescription and went down to the super shop on the other side of the street; While going down the stairs, she saw someone coming up. When he passed my mom, she thought she knew him. That face closely resembled that of a very familiar face. But she couldn’t remember where she had seen him.
So she went to the shop. Bought the medicine and as she was about to pay, she had it solved. That guy resembled Nix. She felt anxious and just ran. We lived on the 7th and Ed lived on the 8th floor. So it took her some time to reach his door. It was open wide. Everything inside was so silent.
Naturally due to less amount of sunlight entering the building, the apartments are always dark. And that day it was raining and hence no sun, so it was much darker.
My mom unlocked her phone to let some extra brightness into the room. As she went inside, she saw stretch marks from Ed’s bedroom to the living room window, which was faced to the parking lot. She hurriedly went inside and saw what had happened. She immediately called 911 and said it was an emergency.
When Edward came he became furious.
Caleb broke the door, went into the apartment. And Fluffy immediately started barking, clawing and biting at him. While trying to run from the dog, he entered into Ed’s bedroom. Ed sat up and tried to get off the bed to help fluffy. In the meantime, Caleb pulled out his gun to shoot the dog. But fluffy gnawed into his legs and so he fell. The gun misfired and the bullet entered straight into Ed’s mouth killing him immediately.
In the meantime, he brutally beat the dog using the pistol as a hammer. And when Fluffy wasn’t moving anymore, he dragged him and threw him off the window.
The irony was fluffy had bitten through the artery off Caleb. The blood was gushing out and he in no way could go down the stairs to get help. And passed out. When Edward came he was still alive.
My mom couldn’t take it anymore and she vomited. Then she came down. When I saw her, she was like a ghost. Face bloodless and shivering. So I hugged her and kept asking, what happened? What’s wrong?
After some time, she recovered and told me what had happened.
When the ambulance came, they declared Caleb and ED both dead.
Later when my mom was talking with the landlady, I eavesdropped and heard that Edward had choked and killed Caleb. The bite marks hid the evidence.
