A LETTER TO THE FIRST MAN WHO BROKE MY HEART.
Hi awesome steemians, i bring to you the spoken word poetry for this week. Hope you enjoy it.
Dear Mr Julius
This letter is yours
I hope its not too formal to address u as such.
For i no longer know what to call u
Sir seems too harsh and father seems too familiar.
Its been over 15years now since you left
And not a day goes by that I don't think about how it felt.
Some days I wish you hadn't and some days i am glad you left.
But still i can't stop thinking about how it felt
That I suppose is the curse of loving someone who has hurt you
I remember when you were in my life,
You made it seem as though walking away will be hard
Yet you made it look so easy and fine
I could have forgiven you for that
But the worst part of this is how you never came back or reassured me
That you loved me
I think even at that, the thing I am missing the most in my life is a dad
Some underestimate the role of a dad in the course of a woman's life
Fathers show their daughters who a good man is
And teach their daughters how they deserve to be treated
I don't remember, were you a good man
I want to thank you though for leaving dad
Cuz you thought me one of the most important lessons in life
People leave and its not in your control
Not everyone is meant to stay
I know this because you were the first person to break my heart
And certainly not the last
I thank you for that
And perhaps when I remember you in the rainy days, I will think of the good memories not the bad.
Yet me Julius,
A father is someone to depend on and not someone who leaves.
I am not angry at you anymore
I was at one point in my life
But I realised that maybe it was right that you stayed away
Maybe you were toxic, I cannot say
Or pretend to know the kind of person that you are.
People change, maybe for the good or maybe for the bad
Thats the beauty of life, it goes on
I don't know what you will call me now
Miss seems too harsh
Daughter seems too familiar

Wow! Your words are beautiful and powerful simultaneously. They took me on a journey to your dad leaving, how you felt, how you've coped and you survived. It is absolutely heart wrenching.
You have a beautiful way of manipulating words.
Thank you so much. I wrote this dedicating it to dads who abandon their kids. My friend told me her story which indpired me to write this. Was even thinking of doing a short movie of abt it. I am glad you like it.
Great inspiration then. One thing I love about is that it's genuine and sincere. I think the short movie is a great idea. You could even voice over the poetry while making a video about it.

Waouh waouh I read through your post and I thank God you didn't put a pict of him and you. Because I got so emotional i almost dropped tears. I love the poem its original and educational. No wonder mommy GO @rosita-nkefor was first to comment on it.
Courage as you move on in life. Some scars teach better than any school and this is one. The beauty of life isn't the number of scars you had, it is how well you managed the pain. Let the lord be your stronghold and in his shadow you shall abide forever. Stay blessed and God bless you
