My Shopping Adventure For A New Home - On A Market Friday

in Market Friday4 years ago

Hello! Welcome to the first edition of my post under the new community Market Friday brought to us by Denise of @dswigle. Denise is the lovely and very generous lady behind the fun #marketfriday challenge. Today, I will be taking you to a Furniture Store called Ludwig in the 22nd Viennese District which is just next to our area.

We are currently window shopping for furnitures because we are moving to a new apartment, the building of which is still under construction. The key turnover is sometime mid May... so we still have time to shop around. We are retirees and after almost three decades of living in our present house, we wanted some changes.

The daughter has long been gone to lead her own life and so we wanted to have a space with no garden. The garden work has become too much since we have to prepare the backyard before we leave for Andalucia, our winter refuge to escape cold Central Europe. I will have a bigger balcony tho than our top terrace at present, so I can still do container gardening.

Ludwig is a superstore where you can get all the things you need for your home, be it furnitures, household items, kitchen. etc...they have it all.

They have a huge parking space that could accommodate to I think thousand of cars. They also have a restaurant that caters to the hungry visitors serving delicious food. It´s more of a canteen with super low priced-food .... just to make visitors comfortable while shopping.

My favorite area is this corner full of moroccan lights. I have similar lights in my andalucian home and I love them because they give oriental flair with their colorful glasses and ornaments.

They also have a wonderful arrays of carpets from oriental to modern ones. I saw a wonderful Kelim that I like a lot, but the walls of the apartment we are moving into are limited. On the other hand, I have my self-made Lone Star Quilt that I will be hanging in the guest bedroom instead.

We concentrated on the kitchen and the bedroom furnitures. And so, we have chosen this model, it is a complete set of bed, night tables and the wardrobe. I think they are a good buy. So the bedroom part is solved. I have already seen a kitchen I like and next week we will come again for a session to have it planned.

The night tables are sturdy, but it is too low for me so I will be doing a DIY platform to elevate both... not a hard task since I do all the woodworks when I design a room.

The headboard of the bed is part wood and leather. I love the offwhite color.

In Austria, the style of the beds are low, but I will be using 2 mattresses to make the bed higher. I have ordered the basic furnitures already but I will hack the design of the room to turn it into an english style bedroom as in the guest bedroom I designed in my andalucian home below. I will surely post an update when we have moved in to the new apartment. It will be an exciting experience and I am crossing my fingers that everything will be fine.

Oh! How wonderful this is! I know how excited you must be to move into a brand new place. I know when it is brand new, it stays extra clean and dustless for so long.

I love your choice of the bedroom and the dining room you showed off was kind of cool looking. There certainly are a lot of choices to be made when you are starting from new once again. I love mixing new pieces in with some of the beloved older ones that have memories.

Thank you so much for taking us along with you and for always supporting me and taking the time to make a post. It is so much appreciated!

You are the best!!!! Thank you for being part of the challenge!!! Can I ask you to link your post here!

The store is almost reminiscent of Ikea, not so much in quality, but, the way things are laid out and the snack bar and the huge parking lot! :) But, how much more convenient can it be, right? Well, nothing seems to be working quite right, so I will just say that I want to thank you for all of your support and #steemitlove!

Thanks my dear Denise... the excitement is there but we have to start from scratch, we are moving some of our old furnitures for personal reasons and the only rooms we have to furnish new are the kitchen and the main bedroom.

Ludwig Furniture Store is a bit different from Ikea because their products come from different European suppliers as well as local furniture makers. Of course they also have articles made in China, but the main focus of the store is mostly on European producers. Ikea has a different concept, they have their designer from house and they produce the products from different countries where labor is cheap. My kitchen in Spain is from Ikea and we paid a lot of money on its gadgets only to find out that they are not that practical to use and TBH, you would only feel the quality of the products once you start using them.

Thanks that you took time to write a lovely reply. Have a nice Wednesday ahead.
