Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Choudhary

Generally, the selection of the Chief of the Indian Defense Forces is announced two to three months in advance. The purpose is to make the person concerned aware of the responsibilities that come with leading a force.

Vivek Ram Chaudhary, who took over as the Chief of the Indian Air Force, did not get the time. He had to accept the post just nine days after the name was announced. Of course, his long experience to date will definitely help him to lead the Air Force competently. The Chaudhary family has ties with Maharashtra. Hastra in Hadgaon taluka of Nanded district was once the village of this family. Chaudhary's schooling took place there as his father settled in Hyderabad, Telangana. After completing rigorous training at the National Defense Academy (NDA), he joined the Air Force in December 1982 as a fighter pilot. He has a flying experience of 3800 hours. This includes the MiG-21, MiG-23MF, MiG-29, as well as the recently purchased Raphael from France. Importantly, he was the head of a bilateral high-level group set up for the Raphael procurement process.
He held important positions on the actual battlefield and in the administrative department. He had participated in the expeditions Meghdoot and Safed Sagar. The Pakistani army had tried to occupy Siachen in 1984. He was defeated by the Indian Army through the Meghdoot operation. The Air Force played a key role in this campaign on the world's highest battlefield. Chaudhary has served as an inspector of fighter and training aircraft, chief of the MiG-29 squadron, and chief base operations officer, base commander on the western and south-western fronts. The Western Division of the Air Force is responsible for the defense of the border areas between China and Pakistan, as well as Ladakh. Indo-Chinese troops had been standing face to face in this area for 16 months. Chaudhary has also worked as an aviation officer of this department. He held the important posts of Deputy Commandant of the Air Force Academy, Assistant Chief of Air Defense, Deputy Chief of Air Force. Chaudhary has been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, Extraordinary Service Medal and Air Service Medal for his achievements to date.
