OLD MAN WINTER ARRIVES, AND BRINGS THE COLD-AND WE ARE AS READY AS CAN BE

TEMPERATURE DROPPING!!!

The last couple days have been the first times this year we have went well below freezing. In my last post I mentioned having the water line buried. It appears so far that that is all good, and there are no problems freezing...yet.😁

SHED PREP FOR WINTER

One big chore I wanted to have completed by winter was to have the outside part of the shed cleared out so we could store our wood stove wood under a roof to keep it dry.

*Isn't that nice?😁

Last winter the wood sat outside exposed to the wintery elements... and that made for some difficult times starting fires due to the wood being wet. It's not terrible starting a fire with wet wood, it's just EXTREMELY time consuming, and time is my most valuable asset I have.

Some organization was also needed inside the shed for similar reasons. I keep all my tools in the shed and when projects are getting done(every single day😁) it's important to me to be able to find what I need in a timely efficient manner...back to time being a valuable asset. The shed had been severely neglected and had never been properly organized since moving all my tools here. Before I went through and organized, all my tools were simply in buckets and to find what I needed, I had to sift through the buckets to find them...but not anymore.

*This will work for now.

*Some things are still in buckets, but not for long.

THE LATEST PROJECTS

There were a few things that needed completed before the cold hit, and I was able to get most of them done. The first was rewiring the entire solar array, or at least all the panels up to where they connect to the main line that comes into the house. This will be done soon as well. When i put the panels up I did not have the exact wire I wanted to use, so I compromised, and used some Romex. It does not work as well as the correct wire, so I finally was able to replace it...not only that, but I noticed, while inspecting it recently, that there was some damage to the wires and it needed replaced regardless.

*The mess I created while rewiring.😁

*All cleaned up and back to producing beautiful free electricity.

I also needed to put tar paper on the front of the cabin. It helps with insulating the cabin my covering any small holes or cracks in the wood and that keeps the cold air out. The tar paper is also the first step for me to be able to attach a stone veneer to the cabin.

*Half covered, and half not. I forgot to take a picture after getting the rest of the tar paper up.😁 I do have one little strip to complete yet though that's about 6 inches tall and the length of the cabin.

BONUS MATERIAL

We had a bunch of bad storms toll through here and they brought a bunch of tornadoes. We did well being tucked into the woods, in our natural bowl we sit down in...but some of my neighbors did not fair so well.
