Characteristics - Toxic Mushrooms

  • Toxic fungus in general has a striking color like red-blood, black-jet, blue-old, or other colors. Although there are also types of poisonous mushrooms that have light colors (light yellow) or white.
    This prominent color is a reminder that other organisms do not eat them.
  • Toxic mushrooms have a ring (anullus) at the base of the stem. Exceptions to mushroom that have ring (anullus), but not toxic.
  • If a poisonous fungus is cut by a knife made of silver, or stainless steel then on a black or blue stain, it indicates that the fungus is poisonous.
  • If the poisonous mushroom is cooked by frying mushrooms with white rice, the color of the rice turns into a dark color, indicating that the fungus is of the poisonous type.
  • Types of poisonous mushrooms can produce a nose piercing odor, such as the smell of rotten eggs or the smell of ammonia.

First aid to mushroom poisoning

Do not give any help to an unconscious / unconscious victim, immediately take it to the hospital. If the victim is conscious and awake:
Vomiting and diarrhea is the body's reaction to toxins that enter, this is the best way to get toxins out of the body, but it must be maintained so that the body does not get dehydrated by drinking a small amount of fluid electrolyte.
