The Big Leaving Egypt Sale or How We Make Homestead Money

Every year we have two or three big sales. I was a picker forty years before American Pickers showed up. I buy and sell antiques, junk, and yard art materials.
Every year we used to have to travel to these long yard sales but now we live very close to one so we just put out signs and the people come to us.
This year the sale was as usual Wed. through Sat. We never sell on Sat but this year the fall feast started on Friday so we just put our signs out early Mon. morning and prayed.
Other dealers thought we must be crazy to close up on the “best two days” but we did close Thursday afternoon.
Well it turned out that this sale was the biggest we have ever had! People were buying our stuff all four days. I’ve included some photos below.
These sales help us get through lean times and we meet a lot of nice people. This also explains our absence from steemit for the past two weeks or so.
It’s so good to be back too. Steemit is the greatest homesteading community on the web.

This little house will be taken down this winter. It has lots of very nice hundred year old heart pine lumber in it.

The old house was also filled with antiques.

This road is in front of our house. It is not the hiway the sale was on but that sign drew a lot of traffic.
