Community Farmers Market : Portland Farmers Market

Yesterday I listed one community farmer market and it got a good response. And more people seem to like my idea of featuring some of the farmers markets around the world. Today I am listing another farmers market organization.

What Portland Farmers Market is doing?

Portland Farmers Market is one of the oldest farmers market that I have listed so far. They are in the community building business since 90s. They have around 8 farmers market spots in portland.

And they are open on saturdays from 9am to 2pm. They are supporting different events during their farmers market days. Apart from organizing farmers market, they have a cookbook. And also they are handling the merchandize and gift certificate system too. They have vendor system through which they are supporting the local farmers in the region. And this ensures the fresh organic food for the consumers and cashflow for the farmers.

Here's an interesting way they are promoting the local and fresh food.

They are promoting the local fresh food through cookbook. This is an interesting idea. I hope many other farmers market adopt this too. And this way people will get to know some of the popular food items in the region. Also there is a chance for job creation where writers, photographers and newsletter type jobs can be created in the local community.
