This Simple 20 cent Fix Can Save a Leaking $25 Plastic Gas Container!!!
Howdy friends! I can't tell you how many plastic gas "cans" I've discarded over the years due to leaks. Hey these things have REALLY gotten expensive too...some places $25 or $30 bucks!!!
These always seem to split along the handle seam! I discovered a quick easy fix that will extend the life of these types of gas containers, and you probably already have the materials!
Cut several 5" strips of "Gorilla" style tape, and wrap tightly around the handle
Make sure to wrap the tape tight
Mission Accomplished, you now have a non-slip carry handle too!

hate those new gas cans can be annoying to get cap on and off. not like the old ones from 30 years ago
Agree! Too much regulation...I miss the old caps/spouts...they are almost impossible now to use

Thanks @solarparadise ! Glad to help out brother...yeah I went ahead and wrapped ALL my plastic cans too... What I REALLY like is the better nonslip grip. Helps in cold or wet weather. God Bless y'all too :-)
Great idea @texasoffgrid I agree the new cans are just nonsense and really frustrating !
Thank you @underthekiltfarm !!! I appreciate your comment...YES...very frustrating...

Do you keep your gas cans under cover or does weather get to them? I like your preventative mindset!
I keep them under cover for storage, away from weather and moisture as much as possible. Thanks for your comment @shalomacres !!!
I came up with this quick fix when I noticed it was leaking in the bed of my truck...grabbed the tape and VOILA! Now I've added the tape to all my gas cans for prevention :-)
If you don't mind the fire risk you could always melt the edge back together with a soldering iron? ;)
Or try pine sap?????
