Welcome to my blog! My name is @anny01 from Nigeria, and today I want to share with you how I spent my birthday. Birthdays are always special, not just because we grow older, but because they remind us of life’s blessings, the people who care about us, and the little joys that make us smile. This year, my birthday was simple yet amazing, and I am so excited to write about it here.
The night before my birthday, I made sure to prepare myself ahead of time. I didn’t want to stress on my special day. So, I cleaned the house thoroughly, making everything neat and fresh. I also cooked some food and stored it in the fridge, just so I wouldn’t have to be running around the kitchen when I should be relaxing. That preparation gave me peace of mind, because I knew the next day would be light and free.
As I finished those little tasks, I thought about how birthdays always bring a mix of emotions joy, excitement, and reflection. While lying in bed that night, I felt thankful to God for another year of life and prayed that the new age would bring peace, good health, and success.
When I woke up the next morning, I didn’t rush into chores. Instead, I simply lay on my bed, pressing my phone and scrolling through social media. I had already planned to post my pictures so friends could wish me well. And of course, I did exactly that.
The moment I uploaded my birthday photos, the notifications started coming in. My phone kept buzzing with messages, comments, and calls. Friends and loved ones were wishing me the happiest birthday, and that alone filled my heart with joy.
There is something about seeing people take time to celebrate you it makes you feel valued. I kept checking my phone again and again, reading every single message, smiling at every comment, and feeling grateful for the love I was receiving. Honestly, I was so happy that I didn’t even bother to eat anything. I just kept enjoying the warmth of the wishes.
Time flew by, and before I realized it, it was already 1:30 in the afternoon. That was when I finally got up from bed, stretched myself, and went to the bathroom to take a proper bath.

A Sweet Surprise
Right after my bath, something unexpected happened. My phone rang it was my best friend calling. He asked me to step outside to get something for him. I didn’t think too much of it and just went outside, expecting maybe a small errand.
But to my surprise, when I stepped out, I didn’t find anything ordinary. Instead, I saw a delivery rider standing there with a gift for me. It was a beautiful birthday cake! 🎂
The moment I realized it was a surprise planned by my best friend, I was so excited. My heart filled with happiness, and I couldn’t stop smiling. Honestly, the cake wasn’t just a dessert to me it was a symbol of love, thoughtfulness, and true friendship. I carried it inside with joy, feeling like a little child receiving the best gift ever. That small act made my day ten times brighter.

Later in the evening, I decided to step out and go to the
market. Even though I had food prepared in the fridge, I wanted to add a few extra touches to make the day special. After all, birthdays are not only about receiving but also about sharing joy with others.
At the market, I bought some items snacks, drinks, and little things that would make a small gathering lively. I wasn’t in the mood for a big party outside, so I chose to keep it simple and intimate.
When I came back home, I called a few of my close friends and invited them over. I wanted to celebrate in my own space, with people I truly care about. Sometimes, smaller celebrations feel warmer because everyone is connected, and there is no unnecessary noise.
As evening turned into night, my friends started arriving. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, music, and cheerful conversations. We cut the cake, shared food and drinks, and simply enjoyed being together.
One of the best moments for me was when everyone sang “Happy Birthday” and I blew out the candle on my cake. That moment reminded me of childhood birthdays and how simple joys can never fade away, no matter how old we get.
We talked, laughed, took pictures, and made memories. For me, that was enough. I didn’t need a grand hall or expensive decorations what I had was love, friendship, and happiness, and that was priceless.
