His Excellency, Wali Nanggroe Malik Mahmud Al-Haythar, received a working visit from Aceh Police Chief Inspector General Marzuki Ali Basyah in Meuligoe, Wali Nanggroe, Banda Aceh, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

The Aceh Police Chief was accompanied by Deputy Chief of Police Brigadier General Ari Wahyu Widodo, Inspector General of Police for Supervision of the Aceh Police, Senior Commissioner Djoko Susilo, Director of Intelligence and Security of the Aceh Police, Senior Commissioner Said Anna Fauza, and Expert Staff to the Aceh Police Chief, Dr. Nurlis Effendi. The Wali Nanggroe was also accompanied by Special Staff Dr. Muhammad Raviq.

The Wali Nanggroe emphasized that disaster relief must be swift and sustainable. "All people affected by natural disasters must receive protection and assistance quickly, appropriately, and sustainably," said Wali Nanggroe, as reported by Wali Nanggroe's Head of Public Relations and Cooperation, Zulfikar Idris.

According to him, handling evacuees is a priority, starting from providing temporary housing, basic necessities assistance, to accelerating the construction of permanent housing. "We want the recovery process to proceed smoothly so that people can quickly return to normal life," said Wali Nanggroe.

"Cross-sector coordination needs to be strengthened to maintain price stability and ensure the smooth distribution of basic necessities, especially before and after Eid al-Fitr," Wali Nanggroe emphasized.

Wali Nanggroe also expressed concern over reports of young women from Aceh who have become victims of human trafficking through illegal employment abroad.

Aceh Police Chief Inspector General Marzuki Ali Basyah stated that security forces, along with the government, continue to strengthen their disaster response. "We are intensifying our response measures, including opening access to affected areas, distributing logistics, and securing the situation during the recovery period," he said.

He added that support for victims also includes basic needs and logistical assistance. The government, he said, is also distributing financial assistance while awaiting the completion of permanent housing construction.

Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the potential social impacts following the disaster. Economic pressure is considered to increase social vulnerability and the risk of crime. "We are committed to maintaining public order and security throughout Aceh through strengthened surveillance, routine patrols, and firm and professional law enforcement," said the Aceh Police Chief.

A community-based development approach will also continue to be prioritized. Eradicating drug trafficking is a particular priority, especially in urban areas.

"Prevention and enforcement will be strengthened through close coordination between law enforcement officials and local governments," said the Aceh Police Chief.

He also emphasized that supervision will be tightened by strengthening oversight of illegal labor recruitment networks while enhancing community protection.

The meeting also discussed the impact of global dynamics on the national and regional economies, including the potential for rising global energy prices, which could affect the prices of basic necessities.

As a follow-up, relevant agencies will improve cross-sectoral coordination to monitor developments and ensure effective response measures.[]
