The Wali of Aceh, His Excellency Tgk. Malik Mahmud Al Haythar, visited flood-affected areas in Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh (indonesia), on Wednesday, December 4, 2025. This visit dispelled rumors that the Wali Nanggroe had disappeared during the disaster.

Floods believed to be caused by illegal logging and extreme weather have hit Indonesia's Sumatra Island, leaving around 1,000 people dead and thousands more homeless, according to local government reports.

The Head of Cooperation and Public Relations for Wali Nanggroe, Zulfikar Idris, stated that the trip was made using a CASA aircraft belonging to the Indonesian Navy, which also transported various types of aid to communities still affected by the disaster.

On this humanitarian mission, the Wali Nanggroe was accompanied by Special Staff Dr. Muhammad Raviq and Katibul Wali Abdullah Hasbullah.

The aid brought included basic necessities, emergency logistics, and other additional support deemed urgent for communities in areas that remain isolated.

Additionally, two drones donated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs were also carried on the flight. These drones have the capacity to transport goods and are expected to expedite logistics distribution to areas difficult to reach due to damaged land access.

The Wali Nanggroe stated that the current priority is ensuring that all isolated villages receive immediate assistance. He emphasized the need for synergy between the government, volunteers, and various parties to expedite the recovery process.

Furthermore, fuel aid from businesses was also delivered via Susi Air to support field operations, including heavy equipment and logistics distribution to affected areas.

Upon arrival at Rembele Airport, the Wali Nanggroe delegation was greeted by the Head of the Communications and Information Agency, the Head of Rembele Airport, and the Bener Meriah Police Chief, AKBP Aris Cai Dwi Susanto.

Following the welcome, the delegation immediately proceeded to the post to monitor the current situation and ensure that aid was promptly distributed to the community.

Besides Aceh Tamiang and several other regencies, Bener Meriah and Central Aceh were the areas most affected by the flood disaster. Until now, there are still victims who have not been found and many public facilities there are not functioning optimally.[]
